The real greats always put education over sports, because they know not everyone can be like them, Ali, Khabib, Ronaldo all of them understand that whatever field you are in- hard work is priority
@stephenolder45523 жыл бұрын
"I don't want him to even think about sports" is not the best attitude. Sports are a great form of exercise, and a healthy body is important for a healthy mind too. Also, young boys got energy they need to burn if you want them to settle down and read. However, as far as becoming a professional athlete, very few can pull that off, so yes, education and practical long term goals are very important

What a lost opportunity. Ali was a very intelligent person that seemed ready for an intelligent conversation. They should have discussed and expanded on his thoughts about getting a good education and such. All he ended up with was typically silly stupid banter from the guests and interviewer. He looked ready to leave in about a minute or less.
@ghanasoul3 жыл бұрын
Thank u VERY much for sayin that! I’m NOT a fan of Cavett’s style of interviewing. I would’ve loved to hear more bout that too. To me he comes off as someone that does NOT know how to interview black people.
@capriracer3513 жыл бұрын
@@ghanasoul That is very possible. He does not take Mohammed Ali very seriously at all. It seems as though Ali was trying to send a very important message at a very critical time. Instead, that message was lost in Cavett's, Keaton's and Allen's silliness. Some of his interviews with other public figures were very good and thought provoking. However, too often he tries to be "cute". To me this did not work in the early 70's any better than it does today.

Ali and Cavet were good friends and he was on the show several times. This is just one of the lower energy shows. They literally have a documentary that shows their friendship.
@capriracer3513 жыл бұрын
@@geesemanray7434 I had to look this up. I guess they were good friends. So maybe I took what was going on here the wrong way. This particular interview still seemed sloppy to me, at least what was shown. Maybe things became a bit more intelligent later in the interview.

This was pretty interesting as Ali was being fairly quiet here, he didnt seem in a clowning around mood until he lightened up a bit at the end. He did a few good intereviews when like that, but here is an example of when they expected a clowing around Ali but he was having none of it pretty much ignoring Woody Allen. Ali just acted how he felt, no nonsence.
