"Muhammad Ali: The Greatest" (1977) full documentary

he Greatest is a 1977 film about the life of boxer Muhammad Ali, in which Ali plays himself. It was directed by Tom Gries and Monte Hellman.The film follows Ali's life from the 1960 Olympics to his regaining the heavyweight crown from George Foreman in their famous "Rumble in the Jungle" fight in 1974. The footage of the boxing matches themselves are largely the actual footage from the time involved.
The movie is based on a book called The Greatest: My Own Story written by Muhammad Ali and Richard Durham and edited by Toni Morrison.
The song "The Greatest Love of All" was written for this film and sung by George Benson; it was later remade by Whitney Houston as "Greatest Love of All".

I was one of Ali's sparring partners at Deer Lake in the 1970s. I was in a serious car accident on a local highway and became disabled. Since 1976 Muhammad Ali and now his estate have paid my medical expenses. He saved my life even when we lost him several years ago, he had me written in his post-mortem wishes. Even though Ali was a Muslim, he was the best Christian I know.

When this movie was made (a LOT before your time), the black actors in this movie were the who's who in black America. I'm totally stoked by some of the people in this movie.
