Yes, people’s brains can protect themselves with amnesia, especially when they’ve experienced a traumatic event. In this case, Muichiro’s daze and exhaustion and agony after his twin died affected him. He lost everyone he loved at 11, so his mind protected itself with Amnesia. It wasn’t until now that he remembers.

Mu in Muichiro in Kanji which is a system of Japanese writing using Chinese characters is written like “無” that means “having nothing”. So, this is the reason why his brother said Mu in Muichiro stands for incompetence “無能(munou)” and meaningless “無意味(muimi)”. In the end, he also said that Mu actually stands for infinity “無限(mugan)”. Fun Fact: In his brother name “Yuichiro”, Yu actually means “having something” in Kanji. By a Chinese native speaker who can speak Japanese😎

13:39 yes! the japanese built thier houses the way they did so that they would provide the best ventilation and airflow possible, they also planted a lot of tall leafy plants around to provide shade, the richer people would add or build a house around a water feature to have flowing water inside the house. The poorer people would soak tatami mats and hang them from windows and doors so the breeze coming in would be cooled. A lot of these methods are still used today, more people are opting for "greener" methods to live comfortably so there have been many creative iterations on ancient designs, my favorite being a "Tube wall water feature". You choose a place with good airflow, build a wall or patch of clay tubes(fired in a kiln, needs to be able to soak up some water on the surface) oriented to that air flow and have water cascade down from the top over the clay tubes. The air flowing through gets cooled down by the water on the clay tubes. The only issue is the humidity these water methods cause, so most don't use them too often and they make sure to ventilate after use to reduce the chance for mold to develop anywhere. Interesting topic to look into!

His amnesia absolutely came from the trauma, you're right. Also to answer your question, 32:57, his rage was his instincts (from his ancestors) awakening, kicking in and activating his demon slayer prowess to beat the shit out of that demon (coupled with his rage at always losing people he loves). It was like Mikasa's Ackermann genes awakening to tap into her inner badass warrior. Same concept for Muichiro!

About the 'mu' in Muichiro: It’s a prefix meaning 'in' or 'non'. His brother said it’s coming from 'munou' (incompetence) or 'muimi' (nonsensical). In the end he says he was wrong and that it’s actually coming from 'mugen' (infinite; yes that’s the same mugen as from the train). Fun fact, Muzans name also has the same character, 'muzan' meaning merciless. The 'yu' from his brothers name Yuichiro is the polar opposite, e.g. 'yuunou' means competent / talented (think of Yuno from Black Clover) or 'yuugen' (finite)

I knew you would love Muichiro, Luke! He's such a great character and although was very blunt and harsh at the start of our first encounter with him and Tanjiro he's grown as a character as well as learning about his past really gets you to understand him. As well as him rediscovering his memories really helps build up the character that he actually is! One of my favorite Hashiras and so happy we get so much about him in this episode one of my favorites for this season! He honestly has that main protagonist aura about him! 😄And yes you were correct on who was whom at the end of who was speaking and I suppose the way it was shot did definitely make it confusing, but for anime purposes I guess it was to add an effect to the scene. Correct that Muchiro lived and I would've found it a bit confusing if I didn't read the manga, so I could see why it was confusing.
@FuFightersStudio3 ай бұрын
The reason why Muichiro suddenly said "Oh I have a twin" is cuz he is actively remembering his past in real time. Up to that very moment he want aware of it so the twin had no role in the story. There are tons of ways to passively cool a house that can even be used today (and in Europe we often use some of these when its too hot those few days a year). The most simple method is to produce a breeze by having two openings for air circulation, then you put a wet sheet over. The water cools the air as it flows. In other areas people would just live in places that wouldnt get hot like chinese mudcaves. Romans had a sort of AC using water flowing in pipes within the walls. There are many other methods and I have no idea if there is anything specific to Japan in particular. Having trees for shade around also helps. Closed off shady courtyards as well. Yeah Muichiro is in fact Muichiro, there is no odd swap or anything - I wish this was double episode ngl :D Amnesia can for sure come from trauma. Hell its normal coping mechanism. When a woman gives birth they will get amnesia about the process so that they are willing to go through the pain again for example.

About the room cooling question) I've never been in Japan, but I was in Qatar. People there from ancient times used the lattice boxes outside the windows. There was a rag soaked with water in these boxes. When the water evaporated, it took away the heat, so the air that passed through this box into the room was cooler. You can see such carved boxes on the outside of the walls of all classical Arabic buildings. This will not work with the humid heat, though...

13:41 Well, in Spain for example (very hot summers) the old houses were built to have good ventilation and using materials that don't let that much heat in. In the south (the hottest region) they painted the outer walls white with lime so it reflected the sun better. Also, patios used to have (and some sometimes still do) some sort of fountain, I think that's heritage from arabs being in the peninsula for 8 centuries, so in places that are even hotter, like the north of Africa, they must have had similar techniques.

The ending bit is a biiit confusing cause it IS Yuichiro speaking to Muichiro (as a ghost ig) the problem is, they have the same voice actor and he doesn't make much of a distinction between the voices. You are correct, it is the dead brother (Yuichirou) talking to/about the living brother (Muichiro). No secret swaps here.

That's okay, at least mitsuri's back story didn't have any death 😂 As an older sibling, i know how Yuichiro feels 😢

This is one of those, episode which got lot of hate when it was aired Because at that time we were just expecting fights like entertainment district But now when we look at it just like another normal episode Its definitely my top 5 episode of demon slayer, because of just how beautiful it is Perfect music, perfect character animation, a beautiful backstory, and the poetic nature of this episode is such a beautiful experience overall.

The beauty of this episode "Mu in Muichiro stands for nothingness" Yuichiro said this so muichiro can lead a normal life, not end up like their father. "Mu in Muichiro stands for Infinity" Yuichiro knew this all along He knew, that to for someone's sake, Muichiro can exert Infinite strength, just like when he did to Burn up the demon in his childhood.

Probably the first fan was made with the shake of the hand. Someone was complaining about the heat and he notice that the hand movement sent some cold wind in his direction. Then he said. What if a use something similar to a hand but bigger, like the leaves of a palm tree. And there you have it! The first fan in history. I also got confused by th twins, but yeah. Muichiro is the one alive. the nice kid.

Muichiro lost the memories, because of a defensive mechanism of brain. When something really bad happens in your life, your brain erases those memories if it thinks you will die if you keep thinking about them. I've had a similar experiene with me, In my childhood something really bad happened, which shouldnt happen with any kid But I only remembered it the previous year.

About the cooling of homes, back then it ties strictly to how they build their houses, just look at old houses, preferably houses aged over 100 years old, other than that, seasonal food, and cultural events, makes the weather bare able,

They made ice in desert areas digging and making domes on top, deserts at night are cold enough to make ice in those buildings.

Listen the fights in this season are fantastic and Tanjiro is amazing and the rest of the episodes are mind blowing but this episode is probably still my favorite of this season. Muichiro is my 2nd favorite Hashira; just something about his character I love so much here. You'll love him even more in the next episode. And this episode was beautifully done in telling his story. I also cried.

I feel like the twin thing could have been done better honestly. I think it would have been cooler is Muichiro ended up killing the demon to defend yuichiro, with yuichiro surviving instead of Muichiro, and that then Yuichiro takes up Muichiros name and mannerisms as a tribute because Muichiro was actually the strong one and "was the one who should have lived, not me". Would also have been fun if current Muichiro didn't know which of the twins he was because of the amnesia.

Yeah, tbh I thought that at first because I was so confused with the speak at himself at the end, lol.

You are right. Yuichiro is the one who died, it was more like his words from the afterlife.
