gyokko's backstory was in a fanbook and was never mentioned in the manga so here it is ( this is not a spoiler): "In the past, Managi lived alone on the outskirts of a fisherman village. His parents had passed away from a drowning incident, something that he was fascinated by and found beautiful when he saw their bodies. He was known for collecting fish carcasses, among other strange activities that led him to be disliked by others and kept their distance from him. At one point, a child approached and teased him, causing him to lash out and murder the child by stuffing them in a jar. The child's parents had found out and in a fit of rage, proceeded to stab Managi and left him to die. He was eventually approached by Muzan Kibutsuji and became his minion, turning into the demon Gyokko that later became Upper Rank Five. Since then, he would prey on the flesh of humans, specifically children, and modify his body to his very own liking."

Which you can see pretty easily why it wasn't included in the manga. It's not that interesting and it doesn't really change our perception of anything. It also is not really resonant with the series themes. Maybe the author came up with it to inform how they were writing Gyokko, or maybe they came up with it after the fact to fill out a fanbook, whichever the case you can definitely see why it didn't matter enough to them to put in the actual story.

If you look back, Upper Moon 5 was stupidly strong, it could move through pots at ridiculous speed, all of its summons had a lethal poison that Tokito himself had to move away so it wouldn't touch him, and in its final form apart from being incredibly fast it only needs to touch you and it's over, it turns you into fresh fish, people often make the mistake of taking the defeat of the fifth moon as a belittlement of its power, when the idea of that battle is not to belittle its strength, but to show how RIDICULOUSLY STRONG the Muichiro mark buff is always remember this, the defeat of the fifth moon is not to belittle the power of the upper moons, but to show and exalt how powerful the Hashiras are becoming

@johnsimonson12073 ай бұрын
Notice how Upper 5 was not smoking after beheaded and even began growing a new body until Muichiro made mincemeat of it's head. In this case here, beheading alone would not have been enough. Muichiro when he sees his parents says Mom and Dad, then he sees his brother Yuichiro, and it is then Yuichro who says Muichiro's name and says he did great, at which point Muichiro responds with brother, thank you. A Shaku is 11.9 inches or 30.3 centimeters, so Tanjiro is saying that the necks are about 66 feet long or about 20 meters. Though it looks like that would be inaccurate. Somehow it feels like the the length should be about twice that amount.
@KagesakiAinz3 ай бұрын
Pure speculation on the first part, he would've probably died but would have taken too long and Muichiro didn't wan't to hear him any longer that's it. Only reason Upper 6 didnt die after beheaded was because there were 2 demons fused so 2 main bodies meaning it needed 2 decapitation. Upper 4 main body didn't get decapitated either yet, that's why he didnt die

@@KagesakiAinz Muichiro definitely did not want to hear him talking any longer, but you do see Upper 5 growing a new body, not smoking, and had tripled the mass surrounding his head and he was still talking as though he was going to still kill Muichiro before Muichiro made mincemeat of the head and growing mass, at which poing then we see the individual pieces burn up and the body start burning up as well.

Some things you may have forgotten/overlooked. First off, the Master in Season 1 said this is the best batch of Hashira since the first generation, so even though the upper moons have killed lots of Hashira, these Hashira are pretty special. Second, in the entertainment district arc Tengen says in his internal Monologue that is not very talented compared to the other Hashira (Although its more accurate to say he's peaked while everyone else still has room to grow) The Frame shows Muchiro and the Stone Hashira as an example of "Unusual Talents" and shows Rengoku as someone that never let anyone die (I think that implies less Rengoku is better than Tengan but that Rengoku never fails and is a beacon of hope.) Third, Muchiro unlocked his Demon Slayer Mark, I think you are underestimating how much of a difference that mark makes, Tanjiro when he unlocked his could decapitate #6 when before he couldn't even when he was weakened by Wisteria poison. If Muchiro is already had least more talented then Tengen in base, than the Mark would make a huge difference. Wow knows how strong Tengen might have been if he got a Mark, or Rengoku, Also I think Muchiro collapsing might be the effects of #5's poison effecting him finally catching up which he was ignoring due to the situation. BTW some people will make statements about Tengen being the #2 strongest or fastest, and I want to let you know this is based off a misunderstanding of information in one of the Manga extras inbetween chapters. Basically there were two rankings of Hashira in how they would do in a footrace and how they would do in an arm wrestling contest. Tengen is the fastest in running speed and the second fastest in arm strength in those circumstances, but the footrace doesn't take into account actual reaction time and combat speed, and we don't even know how long the race is. Plus some Hashira are slower for weird reasons like the Serpent Hashira is slower when running because he "sticks close to the ground like a snake." In addition in battle shonen anime lifting/grappling strength implied by arm wrestling doesn't always translate to striking power. So Tangen can be technically faster in a race and stronger in a grapple but not necessarily the overall strongest. Also that chart was made when Rengoku was still alive and Tengen wasn't retired, so it doesn't take into account any buffs the characters might get from Awakening their Marks. Just a friendly reminder while Muchiro might have toyed with #5, he does have an attack that if it hits you can literally one shot you, by turning you into fish, so without that boost in states (Particularly speed) that he got from the Mark, he likely would have lost. #5 said only 3 Hashira in the past ever survived to the point where they saw his fish/snake second form. Its not so much #5 is weak, Muchiro with the Mark is just that badass.

Upper 5 is pretty universally considered to be the worst Upper Moon. In the case of Hantengu (Upper 4) I think his position is pretty defensible....but man does Upper 5 make it a challenge. In complete honesty, yeah, he is better than Upper 6 on paper, but it doesn't go much further than that. The man is hundreds of years old and has the mentality of a toddler. IF he had actually taken anything seriously at any point than yes Muichiro should be dead and everyone else should get wiped out. When you look at everything logically than yeah he does check out as being stronger. But his mentality is on par with the same demon who turned into the train during the movie, which is also what cost him despite his obscenely broken ability. It just goes to show that no matter how good of an ability someone has, the mindset of the person wielding it should be way more of a factor in just how "strong" they actually are.

Demons don't mature, they don't grow, they stagnate. They can only gain more power, they can change their bodies, but who they are doesn't change with it. They're all trapped in who they once were, even if they no longer remember what drives them, they still follow those drives.

Uppermoon 5 is actually strong, like very strong, he easily beat Muichiro with ease, but he is an idiot because he didn't kill him when he has a chance, if he is bloodlusted, Muichiro would've died, the reason why Muichiro beat him because the demon slayer mark appeared on, having the demon slayer will gave you tremendous boost of power, that's also the reason why Tanjiro manage to behead Gyutaro and overwhelmed the 3 emotion of Hantengu the Uppermoon 4. . Also Muichiro has the most potential in all Hashira due to his ancestor. That's why he is a natural killing machine, but the thing is, he is still young, Tanjiro hold sword first way way back than Muichiro.

Tanjiro with mark near hashira around 80-90% but Hashira with mark is next Level

I love the concept of Upper 5 being a more mysterious and mystical magic focused djinn demon. There was so much potential, but though the fight was great, he never had the presence of any of the others. He didn't get enough time, his design was just a bit too goofy and his personality kind of gave him a comic relief vibe. That in mind, he's only a little of a let down in comparison to the others we've seen.

You have to understand that upper 5 is not weak, muichiro after he got that mark became much stronger than him. Gyokko can do many things that upper 6 cant, he has unique water prison pot, can create monsters, his true form allows for fast attacks, muichiro just overpowered him

I feel Gyokko(Upper 5) lost the moment he transformed. His speed whilst in the pot is more than when he changed into his merman-anaconda suit. Also, i feel his personality led to his downfall. Also, regardless of how Gyokko's face was arranged, i always viewed his mouths as eyes. Made his face easier to watch, follow and understand.

You know we haven't actually scene multiple levels with Akaza so that either means he was holding back against Rengoku (which may be a possibility) or he's different because I think he's more martial arts based than a unique blood demon art.

They just didnt animate Yuichiro's face as he was talking for some reason, its still him speaking to the lying Muichiro - I almost suspect they wanted to pull a "but what if they swapped" but the way its done is pretty damn bad. Shaku is traditional japanese length unit - you could compare it to a feet. Its about the length of 30 cm or 12 inches. I would say Nezuko is actually scared that Mitsuri will cut Tanjiro inside the dragon

You’ll learn/see why Muichiro was so strong here at the end of this season or the start of next. Upper 6 was lower because the sister is a lot weaker than the brother so it evened out their rank. If it was just the brother, he would have been ranked higher. That’s why upper 5 felt weaker. Well that and that Muichiro was just crazy with the mark

We love this season, except, there was always the possibility of upper moon 2 going to the swordsmith village with them

a shaku is an old japanese length measurement and is roughly 0.3m. So the dragon heads have a reach of roughly 20 meters.

Remember upper 6 was way stronger than 5 only reason he lost that day was because his sister Muzan himself said this
