Muk Vs Weezing | Who's the BETTER Poison Type?!? | Pokemon Red and Blue Solo Run Battle

Playthrough Rules:
1. Only my selected Pokemon in battle
2. No items in battle
3. No glitches or exploits (the badge boost and marowak skip permitted)
4. No Losing of ANY Kind (No Blackout Training)
5. No Double-Team TM before level 100*
Other Things to Know:
1. Pokeballs (HM Pokemon) are allowed in battle
2. I play the game at 4x game speed (238 frames per second)
3. My Pokemon have perfect DVs
4. Skipping the bike is not allowed
5. Saving between Elite 4 members is allowed
6. If the solo Pokemon faints and I choose to blackout it counts towards my reset counter and I still have to reset
Terms:
1. STAB
--- Same Type Attack Bonus - a 1.5x damage multiplier for using a move that shares it's type with the attacker
2. DVs
--- The Gen1 equivalent of IVs (individual values), these range from 0-15
3. Stat XP
--- The Gen1 equivalent of EVs. But unlike EVs, you can reach the limit with every stat

Sometimes Brock battles can be a complete mess, I'm always learning new ways that bide is one of the most messed up moves in gen 1.

My prediction is that muk is going to dominate. Wheezing has really shallow move set and no badge boost.

Gen 1 sprites are very difficult to change via the rom, it's an overlay of the blackbelt from Giovannis gym. But it's still very cool.

Wow, what a run! I was betting on weezing and I wasn't expecting these 50+ resets at what would considered to be an esay gym battle, with red and blue giovanni. 😮But you've managed to optimize that with rest, substitute, and battleing some additional trainers. Well done! 😊 Muk, on the other hand is was having a slow start, but having an excess to mega drain and body slam kind of made the difference between the two. 🤔 By the way, I can't wait see how the metronome run would be. 😊Thanks for making such interesting and incredible versus runs like these, because they are really fun to watch. Keep up the good work 😊.

I'm looking forward to the Metronome run too, it will be a fun change of pace. I was getting a bit burnt out from these versus videos. They take a lot more creativity than the regular videos.

@@SteveMPlays yeah, that figures. These versus videos are taking a lot of time to make and edit afterwards. So making these kind creative ideas could really be fun and exciting to make. But I bet that would very challenging, because you're basically relying on pure luck . 😁

Playing the game itself is the easy part. Set aside 4-7 hours in one night and play 4 times. It's the dialog that's hard. I can't think of what to do for one pokemon. I have to think of multiple comparisons, I have to make the winner less obvious. I have to of creative ways to show why I picked certain moves or paths I took. Plus there's just more graphics and editing. It's just more than 2 videos of effort in one.

@@SteveMPlays yeah that makes sense. I figured that it's a lot of work😅. Writing a script and then doing the voice over part and trying to fix it time after time. Then trying to put everything in sync, for each video. Yeah, that takes a long time to create.

I was thinking of expediting gen 2, the html is not very good. When a battle starts, the stats disappear. So it'll mostly just be gameplay, but I feel like it would be very exciting playing gen 2. Especially since every opponent pokemon will be shiny.

My guess is that Muk will win, because wheezing is more defensively focused. I think it will be a very close race

realistically Weezing should have no way to lose since after Brock both pokemon would struggle in the same places so that Brock problem is magnified 10x

Though most pure poison types suck of the 2 only Muk is 100% poison and while it sucks at the start it still gets useful TM moves.

That is a good observation, but sometimes stats have trumped moves (from my other vs videos)
