What we've been doing as first time mule owners who were lifelong horse/pony people, is to pretend that Stanley knows NOTHING. This has been my method. He allegedly did this and that when we got him and actually he DID do many of the things as advertised. However, he did this with the previous owners. After following this channel and doing as much research as possible, I've learned to start with the very basics. Thank you so much for giving us this information so we don't feel like failures with our long eared friends! The little donkeys in my care knew not one thing when I met them last spring. They were unapproachable. They are now doing wonderfully with the foundation training. The smallest one, "Hee," is eager to please and is going to make a wonderful companion/worker/pet/part of the family. Sorry to go on!! Thanks again.

Americans and animals. Mia Lykke Nielson of the channel When Horses Chose is now bringing not only the technique of leadership, but the mechanics. Leadership training takes a lot of time. Intimidation may create submissiveness but that is not respect which comes with trust. Ms Nielson has worked with mules and donkeys, she has three years of continuous observation of Western range wild horse herds. Ms Nielson's videos now have her saving mustangs in New Mexico. Her training methodology is free on the videos When Horse Choose

@@anneterry3660Where at? KZbin or another site? I don't really care for all of the videos treating mules like sentient machines. You are not entitled to their work, so allow them to want it, like most mules do. Disregarding how they feel about doing something is not a good way

Thank you so much for the great advice. It helps a lot to know exactly what to look for and exactly what to request to see the mule do.

Hi Debbie, Dave here! So glad you found us. I have someone I want to connect you with. She has a one eyed mule and has had much success with his foundation training. Would you email me at support@muleranch.com and I'll ask her if she is okay being put in touch with you.

My donkeys have me perfectly trained. They do nothing. They eat all day and I pet and give them treats. If I want one to pull a cart or give a ride, they are planted like a mighty oak. They say you have to be smarter than the donkey. I’m not!
