Just a few good tips. 1. Always use wine that you would normaly drink as well (cooking wine, bad wine is a no go) 2. I would add cloves and if you like, chili flakes. 3. Do not boil it, otherwise the alcohol evaportes. 4. If you plan to leave some for the next day, remove the oranges (or the white parts), otherwise it will turn bitter. 5. You can make a syrup with sugar, water and all the spices, fruits, boil them for a few minutes and then add the wine. 6. If you add honey, add it in the end as high heat and honey is not the best mix. 7. You can add a little bit of water, so it's not that strong and you can drink more :) +1. Aromatic white wine (like msucat ottonel, etc.) + apple are a very nice combo as well.

I also use clovers and piment corns in it and roast them in a pan a bit before put them in the wine 🇩🇪

Looks delicious! I usually have some indifferent red wine laying around after cooking, so this is a great idea! Hugs!

Sehr gut Akis. I will try it with honey instead of sugar next time, brilliant. I usually also add cloves. Greetings from a German living in NYC. Love your channel ❤️

Ethanol boils at about 78 degC. I would add the brandy when the wine has cooled down to below 78 degC so that you will minimise the amount of ethanol that evaporates.

I do a non-alcoholic version where it's just heated cranberry juice from the cranberry sauce I make. I call it "fall punch".

A small improvement would be to add 1/3 or half amount of water to it. I find it too rich when it is purely done with wine, let alone with brandy and to loosen it up it benefits from water a lot. You still get the spicy, warm, rich drink you've expected but it won't overwhelm you and you could drink it without feeling that you had enough after a few sips.

Adding some earl grey (or similar tea) is also a good alternative, to soften it a bit down 😆

Would one of the more expensive grape juices (kind of like a non-alcoholic wine) work well for this?
@1992thGuitarist
@1992thGuitarist Жыл бұрын
No I don't think it will. You need the acidity and tartness from the wine along with other aromas. But you don't have to worry about having alcohol in it, it evaporates before the whole mixture starts boiling. And finally, you can make some kind of a mulled juice, it will be delicious just don't expect it to be mulled wine.

if you want to use grape juice, then do not use any sweeteners. no honey, no sugar

@@1992thGuitarist Wait what? There's no way that all (or even any significant amount of) the alcohol of the wine will evaporate that quickly. Especially not before boiling.

THank you! 'Mulled' is pronounced almost like 'molled', otherwise it means 'donkey'! To pronounce difficult words you can divide them POM - GRANATE. 😃
