How do you not lose fibers when you burn the hole for the fly?

Enrico's suggestion is to be careful not to pull the fibers with your fingers.

Enrico is using spécial eyes that have a post on them. So when you apply a generous amount of goo ( not liquid) the goo will bind the fibers and the post will also penetrate the fibers and get glued even better. Probably having longer lasting eyes as well when false casting and fighting fish.
