Because it's basically the Tor browser without Tor, it also has the noscript extension.

Oh, so it does! Sorry, it's not visible on the top bar by default and I didn't even think to check for it. Thanks for pointing that out!

I'm fine with being an early adopter for things like this. Hope more follow along eventually.

Great video, Nate. I am beginner at all of this and I wanted to know that do we have to use this browser with VPN all the time cuz using it without VPN will make you look different.
@TheNewOil
@TheNewOil Жыл бұрын
Correct, sorry for not mentioning that. Mullvad does explicitly urge you to use a VPN with this browser, even if it's not their VPN.

The thing I don't like about the browser is the thick borders around the the web pages but if their is a way to take them off in settings please help lol. But it is a decent privacy browser
@TheNewOil

Those are intentional. It's called "Letterboxing" and it's designed to help ensure that everyone looks like they're using the same screen resolution. Disabling it would probably make you more fingerprintable and wouldn't be recommended.

It's not yet available on Android and according to Mullvad's Mastodon there are no plans to port it at this time, unfortunately.

How is this a privacy browser when it basically reveals to every website "hey, I'm Tor Browser without Tor Network...
@TheNewOil
@TheNewOil Жыл бұрын
As stated in the video, the idea is that if you get enough people using it, everyone looks the same and thus harder to pick individual users out of the crowd.
@trappedcat3615

@@TheNewOilTrue, but it is easier to blend in a crowd with clean Safari or Chrome. Chrome only requires a few tweaks in settings. Tor Browser is the only hope for Firefox. I'm stating this with dark fingerprinting knowledge that few will ever see first hand. :)

@@trappedcat3615 It is, their hope is that with enough adoption it'll become an even better option. The likelihood of this happening is extremely slim but better to try and fail than fail by not trying. In short this will do nothing for early adopters but has the potential to kick butt for standard users in the future.

@@trappedcat3615 you should know that stock google chrome is still very fingerprintable, I don’t think I can post links here but there are tons of articles explaining that

Have you heard of SnowHaze? They have a pretty slick iOS browser that seems to be pretty tight security and they are a VPN as well.

Snowhaze is a recommended browser on our website. I know very little about their VPN service.
