There's no way you're getting a playset of it in the TCG, you'll probably not even get one with just one box. Meanwhile, in the OCG, you *can* potentially get 3 copies with just one box.

What i am upset about first was little knight because it felt very much like little knight was a must buy staple but whatever there are alternatives, i know a lot of people were upset with SP, and either way SP was ONE 100$ card, whatever, but Mulch is way too pricy, and you HAVE to play 3 to hope to do anything no matter what deck youre on, its miserable people dont mind expensive engines, we arent forced to buy fiendsmith to play against fiendsmith persay, but Fuwalos feels like you have to buy it to play against it no matter the deck.
@maliksmith9003Ай бұрын
So let me get this straight, Konami is trying to incentivize every player (and by extension distributers) to buy expensive boxes to build decks. By creating a system that makes it so their only relevant products intentionally hard to obtain, before cheating that system to make them more artificially scarce anyway. And their only justification for this practice is "alternative obtainment methods are inflated." Got it. Fixing the clown gas analogy: In the Yu-Gi-Oh case, "Clown gas" always produces gas, and sells it at $20 the gallon. "Regular gas" produces plain water 90% of the time, and only actual gas 10% of the time, and sells at $2 per gallon. So, yeah; people will buy "Clown gas", because it's _guaranteed_ to give them what they want. In that regard, "Regular gas" is a terrible service, unless you're really into gambling. Numbers-wise, there's a 35% chance that you won't get any gas after spending $20 in "regular gas", compared to 100% after spending $20 in "clown gas". So yeah. Konami, get real.
@blackartsasmr2146Ай бұрын
You don't need to fix it, the analogy was actually 100% accurate but not in the terms that tewart meant it (it was a little freudian slip from the little oven dodger). The tcg IS the clown gas and you're forbidden from using any of the cheaper gas (OCG or even asian english cards) to play the game
@TheLilytronАй бұрын
I think a huge reason Magic players are like that, is the reserved list. With that list they invited investors in, and now this unhealthy mindset that your cardboard pieces meant to facilitate your hobby should also be an investment is so entrenched in the community that it is impossible to drive out anymore and even allows Wizards to specifically print for the speculative market. I personally fully agree with you that cards should not inherently hold a lot of value and should be widely accessible. I've heard the argument that the OCG can do this because they have a much larger playerbase and as such can offload their stock anyway, but imho that doesn't really make that much sense, as the playerbase would likely grow if people didn't have to make a starting investment of several hundred $/€ to see if this game is for them.
@casuallydone46818 күн бұрын
A big also is rotation, Little Knight will likely be playable for what maybe 2 years as a SUPER staple, there are very few foolishes or ashes that just stay meta relevant indefinitely, most staples have a 1-2 year lifespan (At best) due to the banlist as well as just how fast creep is in Yugioh. People playing magic outside of standard (Especially in commander) expect their cards to hold value for YEARS, Grief was a super staple that held all of its value through reprints for almost 4 years straight and only died because of a ban, same with Fury. Old cards in yugioh generally dont hold value even staples like say ROTA. Due to the way Konami structures reprints and sets. In magic if a card was 40$ in 2017 its its probably still over 20$ now, Mtg cards just generally tend to hold their value better, therefore players enfranchised expect for those cards and new cards to hold some level of value even through reprints. Its not neccasarily an investment, just an expectation Look at the fetchlands, fetchlands, a super staple, insanely reprinted, consistently hold a 10-40$ price cycle for 14 years straight naturally theyve dipped over time but people buy fetchlands and expect them to relativelt stay over 10$ well forever, and then when they reprint half the other half go up, with the price overall dipping a dollar or two each reprint more permanently. Its the structure of staples in each format.
@HaSuOrbsАй бұрын
My thought is -- Us the OCG rarity distribution. Period. People who want to play can afford it to play and the high rarity cards can hold their "value" longer. Heck -- If the cards are more available stores are more likely to sell more product because it is easier for ppl to pull what they want -- And collectors can hunt the shiny version. Would make everyone happy.

The reason why MTG wants cards to be expensive is the reserved list. For those who don't know, in MTG there is a list of old and powerful cards that are in the "reserved list". That means that this cards will never be reprinted. This makes the community see cards as investments and stocks, so people tend to buy expensive cards with the intention of holding value to eventually cash in. It warped half of the community to see cards as trading stocks instead of what they actually are, a piece of cardboard for a game.

Secrets should be reserved for 1-of power cards, like a new Synchro Monster, nostalgia bait cards, or supplementary cards that are powerful but niche, like Painful Decision. 13:00 The reason for this is that our game is competitive, while theirs is not. They're just roleplaying as a wizard and want to brag about their cards. (I know that it's not all MTG players who are like this, I'm sure many of you just want to have fun competing.) MTG's most popular format is where you play a deck with 100 1-ofs, face 3 other players at once, life is doubled and everyone decides that aggro decks are banned because they make it hard to do big flashy combos 20 turns later.

The powercreep with the pricetag that it holds is so high many friends also stopped playing and pricing is not that high that you can even satisfy the competitive players that even still buy the expensive staples. This is a big problem with Yugioh not being a draftable set. In MTG for example even a set like New Capenna that is worth dog nothing 3.20$ a pack, you can STILL as a store host draft and throw Capenna packs in there to eventually run down that inventory that is otherwise pretty dead now. You can't do that with Yugioh packs so the product is just actually straight up dead.

They know the die-hard fanbase is going to keep playing because we don't have that many other options, and more short-term profit = more better by corporate standards. On the MtG card value, the finance section is a vocal minority. Most people want reprints. WotC currently uses a model closer to the OCG, so most cards are pretty cheap. Also, there isn't an arbitrary OCG/TCG split, sp WptC doesn't get a six-month trial run of the cards to see what they can rarity bump.

@frig7014Ай бұрын
still tryna find decent proxy suppliers for ygo, all the ones I've seen that appear to be realistic / proper rarity etc still cost like $15/copy for secrets and even that feels kinda unjustifiable. I do see some cheaper ones tho that just opt to not bother adding the white layer behind the art so the foiling just shines thru everything, do you feel those are really that noticeable where you would get a deck check?

The Problem is that Konami doesn't share the risks that come with their products. Konami sells their Produkt directly to retailers, who make long term contracts(clueles) and are contractualy obligated to purchase bad prodicts(literal papper). Konami is aware about what is happening, however they don't bear any consequences so they will not change their product design(bad cards are easier to balance). These Contracts are also a Japanese thing. Western Companies share the burden(like WOC). Japanese Companies always build a subserviant relationship(bc culture and rasism idc).

QCR Fuwalos has hovered around $400. Guess I’m buying packs, only because that’s ridiculous, and if I don’t get it, f me I guess, Konami hates us.

It's so fucking unreal why they won't make the rarity distribution more like the RC, i live in a 3 third world Country and we bought cases of that set it was crazy how good it was. It won't kill them if the card has 2 or more rarities in the set like the malcharmy having a super and a secret and qcr, everyone will buy boxes if it was like this, but in no way I'm buying something not guaranteed to get.

Its funny because when they get reprinted in the tins/rarity collection 3 theyll get banned 4-6 months after

i pulled one out of a booster box. i dont even play but that last pack magic hit. im probably going to go trade it at a store for a spell ruler booster box and maybe a ghost from the past 2 mini box. guy said he would do about 125cad trade. i dont play i just like ripping packs and just got back in because i couldnt afford when i was young. i figured best to get rid of it sooner than later because if everyones crying im sure it'll get banned and drop in price eventually, right? may as well cash out when i can.

it's not bankrupting me because I'm 100% not paying for it. Pre-sales value are around 700/800 BRL. Basically 2/3 of the minimum wage :D

If Mulcharmy Fuwalos is similar to Maxx "C" why not just unban Maxx "C" in the TGC?
@rhysjonsmusicАй бұрын
Because TCG players have an irrational hate boner for Maxx C

Because it's not , it's a lot weaker, MaxxC Is an unbalanced card and the point of the mult cards is to replace it
