Join me as I start the multi-engine add-on series. In this episode, I cover the training required for the multi-engine rating. I also get into the commercial ACS and how I use it to conduct the commercial add-on checkride.
Check out the podcast website to find the interactive ACS for both commercial and instrument. vsl.aero/podcast

Hands down - this channel is great. One tip, just toss the text “Chapters:” in the line above the actual timestamps in your YT description. Then, they’ll automatically update in the video and YT will give you credit and help your algorithm. YT can take 24hours to update the video itself. Chapters are great, it drives a bit more targeted engagement. I’m all in for doing my Multi add-on with you in spring of ‘23, hope to meet you then. Keep up the great work 👍

Great videos! I really enjoy your content. I'm trying to finish my commercial right now and want to get my multi ASAP. Your advice on not skipping the CSEL was great! I don't have much money to do this and every cent helps! Also, I used to fly in the back of sneaky ISR Hercs back in the day!

Thank you so much for this video. I'm doing my training in a Travelair and this was such a helpful breakdown of the systems, especially in regards to the propeller.

Thanks so much for producing this Seth. I'm a CFI and recommend all of your podcasts to my students. I find it the absolute best podcast available for the checkride prep. I'm working on my CMEL now. When do you expect to have Parts 2 and 3 of the Multi Engine Basics ready for viewing please?

Taking a checkride is like playing a video game while someone has a gun to your head

Though check rides can indeed feel stressful, it's important to remember that safety is always the highest priority. Unlike the high-stakes scenario you described, a check ride is designed to ensure that all pilots meet the rigorous standards required for safe flying. The examiner is there not just to assess, but also to help reinforce these standards. You wouldn't be there unless your instructor thought you were ready.

Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately, I'm no longer doing multi courses. If you go to the website I have three schools that I recommend that do a great job though.

Amazing content. Just one correction - at 6 min elapsed time you mention power to non power (glider) requires a knowledge exam. I can assure you that’s not the case. Power to glider add on rating = no knowledge exam. The only exception is CFI airplane to CFI glider. That requires FIG knowledge exam.

You are correct! No written test required, just a practical.

Which ratings require the 3 hours of flight time?
@SethLakeDPE
@SethLakeDPE 8 ай бұрын
I'm assuming you mean the 3 hours in the previous two calendar months before taking the practical test. The private pilot, instrument pilot, and commercial pilot all require at least 3 hours of training in the previous two calendar months prior to the date of checkride.
