Jahmal, I did exactly the same thing. Got my Cfi somewhere else and now I have nearly 800h working as a Cfi, with an interview set with Aviate on the 21st.

Nice that what’s up man! I always preach that being a CFI at ATP is not the only way to be successful.

Congratulations on your journey on earning that ATP certification. Wish I had stuck with my flying back in 04. with it. But I haven’t give up. I will still pursue it at least private.

I’m close to taking my private check ride. I didn’t know I could defer my CFI. I will ask about that tomorrow. Thanks.

Great vid, in my opinion go get that cfi/ii though instead of that sensor position because you will need to have more hours than 250 before the company can insure you to fly their aircraft and you’d be more marketable to companies (airlines/corporate) having done more instrument flying vs vfr with the aerial survey flying. Good luck to you!!

If you had the ability to go to any ATP location, which would it be? I'm concered about sim, instructor, and plane availability. I want to do everything I can to stack the deck in my favor for success. Housing is my only other concern. I may purchase a used camper to live in. On the website, it says housing is double occupancy. Does that 2 to an apartment or 2 to a bedroom? Did you do the housing option? It looks like most locations don't have it available, anyways.

I think I would go to the same location. The instructors were great, it was a maintenance facility, we had a bunch of Cessnas (14) and Seminoles (4) and the airspace was busy which gave me a lot of experience. We had a multi-engine sim and two Cessna sims. One of the Cessna sims was a FRASCA which is as real as it gets without being in full motion, check it out on Google. As for housing, I did do the housing option and it was a nice apartment in a good part of the city (Centennial, CO) the apartment was called The Bridgewater Apartments, check that out on Google too. Not all housing locations are created equally though!

Quick question, how long were you in ATP school for? From my understanding you entered with a PPL right?

Came in with my private. Did my instrument, commercial, and multi at ATP from July 10, 2023 - January 16, 2024.

@@Jahmalthepilotsuper helpful, I’m almost done with my PPL and about to try and get all the same certifications so, knowing a general time frame is helpful. Thanks bro, keep on pushing to the end.

What are the benefits of skipping CFI at ATP? I was under the impression that was the quickest way to build hours?
@Jahmalthepilot
@Jahmalthepilot 6 ай бұрын
There’s no real benefit to skipping CFI at ATP. I was put into a tough financial position to where I had no choice but to defer CFI. When I started the program I had full intention of becoming a CFI because it really is one of the fastest ways to build time. But you know the saying it’s about the journey not the destination 🤘🏾

Dont waste your time with the CFI ratings. Get on with a scheduled 135 operator in a turbojet.

How easy is it to land a gig like that with a wet comercial? I really want to avoid the CFI route
@abdimaliksharif1586
@abdimaliksharif1586 6 ай бұрын
Waste of time? it is BY FAR the fastest way you can build time. 135 operators won't even bat an eye unless you got at least 500-800 hours.
