Hey I have one of these tents on my patriot camper over here in Utah. Shits be nice. My mattress needs to be upgraded. I’m glad they are working on a replacement.

Crazy caffeine fueled idea of the day....just use the tent as your bed cover. Put some gaskets around the bed edges, maybe a set of those shocks to tilt it sideways for access into the bed. Cut out the middle man if you don't already have a cover, or are building in stages.

Great review. I really want a RTT that is comletely blacked out. So glad you covered the light filtering through. I'm also a big fan of the roof vent too. very smart.

Nice quality tent. Especially liked the telescoping ladder. Had a laugh with the dog hitting the lock button. Gotta love real world problems. I have a velcro stash a key for my '08 Tacoma. It won't start the vehicle, but you could get access if locked out.

Would be cool to see a budget tent tested out like the off the grid raptor series or something!

This tent looks pretty cool. Would like to see how it holds up to being poured on and used in rain, and high wind. Still rocking my older school fold out Tepui tent. My Taco is a double cab short bed so would have to go above roofline with a tent like this.

You put me onto claymore's products and most of my camp lighting is by them now lmao love their little fans too! Great for out on the water when its still at night. That's a cool ass tent tho. Definitely will be showing it around to my buddies.

So the 55” free spirit appears to be about 4k before tax and extras, that’s excellent, the only rooftop tent I’m actually interested in and it’s at a reasonable price, love it.

Can't see how the tracks on the side of the tent would be a benefit, as once the tent is opened...all that is attached go up with the roof of the tent. Am I understanding/seeing this correct?
@TalonSei2 жыл бұрын
Attach to the lower frame, but also I’ve never seen anyone need to use tracks while their tent is popped lol

Hey - Quick question bcs I hate wind and it looks like the Freespirit might be a bit loosey goosey, flapping in the wind. Can you address that? Thanks so much for your review.

All of the tents I’ve tested from them have held up great in wind.

Idk if i like RTTs. 1. It feels like a cheat. 2. They limit usability of the truck (not that big a deal, but it is thing). 3. They limit your adventures to a proximity around your truck (unless you also pack backpack tent). and 4. If i don't want to take the time to set up a ground tent, which i personally find more comfortable, i'm one who would be totally fine sleeping in the driver seat.
@forrestgumball2 жыл бұрын
I had that same attitude, and then I bought a roof tent and im never going back to that mindset lol
@RedNeck_Zeus2 жыл бұрын
@@forrestgumball it could just be that my idea of overlanding stems from different disciplines in the outdoors. I'm more of a hunter/angler first and foremost and the purpose of overlanding for me is just to get to the next trailhead. And if i'm packing out 300+lbs of meat a RTT would limit my ability to store it, unless i put it on top of a truck cap but those things aren't really designed to support someone of my size laying on top of it for sustained periods My point is i'm not one to go overlanding just to go overlanding, there is always a further goal in mind for my adventures.
