Very nice.. Suggestions are directly plan can imported from CAD.. If the basement ht is 3.5m means the under water tank also ht of 3.5m?? Where the stiffness modifiers get exactly?

Dada.. You have considered self wt multiplier 1 for PW, FF etc. Is it required at all as You have seprately assigning considerable loads for PW and FF by calculating.

the cover for beam is given 35 mm to centroid. I think it should be 43 mm(25 +8+10) . 25 mm is clear cover, 8 mm is stirrup, centroid of 20mm is 10mm.

the stiffness modifiers are for analysis purpose only and not for design. This is mentioned in IS: 1893 ,2016 PART-1. Correct me if I am wrong

Why will you do analysis only? For serviceability check? For serviceability check stiffness modifiers are more than the values used for design as we used.

Can you please mention the codal provision regarding stiffness modifiers for serviceabiliy and design criteria? In IS 1893 (Part I):2016, Cl.6.4.3.1 gives values for structural analysis and does not mention serviceablity or design.

Dear sir you said that for serviceability check the property modifier are different than that for design but in this video during the checking of displacement you put the same modifier as used for design. Please specify the clause of code for this. And during design can we take code based time period?

Ramp length & slope provided by architect. From Architectural Section you can get these. Usually minimum ramp slope 1:6

hello sir,thanks for ur all effort beautiful mind with great video keep it up. also my qsn is that - 1.while we rest secondary beam into the primary beam and modelling is it necessay to break primary beam at the intersection with secondary beam or just joining the secondary upto the primary? 2.length of bldg is taken within the colm or with in the cantilever top? 3. when often the short beam with in the colm. i.e like 2' long beam fails during analysis?only +ve or _ve bm n how to pass the beam

1. No need to break. 2.Length taken one slab end to another slab end (max distance at ground floor roof). 3. We need to release torsion, if not passing then continue the same beam section provided next to this beam. When larger beam section provided in a larger span continuing to shorter span requires the same section as on larger span.

How can we differentiate soft storey/open storey in etabs? Is that only wall load variation?

The IS code is silent about the stiffness/property modifier for structural members. I surmise these values have been taken from ACI code. Do we need to take these values during design if we are following IS code for the same? Even if you take the modifiers, won't the torsional constant should be taken 0.01 for beam and column. Please enlighten

For beam we can use torsional constant if it fails for excessive torsion. In that case we release torsion in beam that torsion transferred to alternate load path of slab & column.

Equilibrium torsion cannot be released. Compatibility torsion can be released.

Sir, in your 2nd part video, pl give emphasis to understand the Mass Source defination in regards to soil pressure and water pressure.(super dead or live) . How it will act in seismic behaviour. And also load combination specially for water pressure load and earth pressure load.I also request you kindly elaborate regarding time period while modifying lateral load in seismic definition.whether it is 1. Approx 2. Programme calculated or 3. User defined for brick on fill as is code i.e 0.09h/sqr of dimension in x and y dir.

Thank you very much sir.I also request you to show the maximum deformation under service load in uz. As per Indian code maximum deflection including creep,shrinkage is span/350 or 20 mm whichever is less. Some people says that deflection is calculated as = (maximum selection in uz - deflection at nearest colum)* creep co eff. The creep co- eff is 2.2 for 7 days strength of concrete ,Ref IS 456-2000 page 16. If possible please try to cover.

Sir I have been using ETABS 2016, when I provided wall load in basement shear wall using null lines as mentioned on 43:50 min, there is warning when I check model. the warning is Warning: Line load L20 from (0 32700) to (0 38150) At BASEMENT RF is not transferred. Warning: Line load transfer, Check BASEMENT RF, L20. Total loss = 74.229. For load pattern PW. can you tell the solution.

slab modifiers mentioned as 0.25 is nowhere mentioned in code. if mentioned in any of Indian codes , please let me know. In IS : 1893 2016, stiffness modifiers for analysis purpose are indicated as 0.7 and 0.35 for columns and beams respectively but there is nowhere indicated 0.25 for slabs

Not specified in IS code but we can not consider beam and columns are only cracked section, slab also can be. And as per ACI code & csi knowledge base it is recommended. You can follow IS code strictly no issue for that one. But I want to be more specific/conservative in my design.

For some reason my cantilever beams of balcony always fails in (torsion+shear) no matter how big section I assign. What might be the reason? I also asssign the torsion constant for beams to 0. Even then it did not work. Have any body come accross this problem? I would be so grateful if somebody could tell me whight might be the reason? My balcony is just 4 feet outwards. i assigned 9in x 14 inch beam but it fails. load is just 5 inch slab and 3KN live load and paraphet wall is made out of glass which might me considered as 0.5 KN/m. can any body tell me what size of beam would a 4ft balcony need.

Hello sir, i am one of your subscribers, i have a Q, we have a 12*57 feet commercial building so in that can we provide 9*12 inches columns with 16feet c/c spacing and with 6nos od 12 mm dia bar so this will be safe or not. love from India
