Thanks so much! It works, although now fish may be going a bit deeper with this crazy heat, but that still works early AM / night. thanks for watching!

On June 13 at Mosquito, I caught a 28" northern pike using this technique.

That was a nice big crappie!! Nice setup for the night crawler, and great explanation on how and where to use it. I used to do a similar rig for brook trout. Gorgeous walleyes! Nice and chunky. Good on keeping that second one. 😋 The wind seemed like a bit of a pain, but all in all that was a good session.

Great minds think alike, glad something similar worked for brook trout, as well. Thanks for the support, Henri!

That is a pretty neat set up. Ill be up in NY on a walleye lake in a week. I should try this out.

Walleye are very cool looking. Those last couple were solid too. Nice multi species Todd, even though that wasn’t the intent.

I didn't know you could fish walleye shallow in the summer. i was always under the assumption that they go deep i fish mosquito regulary, but spring and fall is the only time i can catch eyes. When the water is cold, im going to try fising shallow. Thanks !

Very nice. Yeah, if you don't mind replacing night crawlers and running two lines at once, which seems to trigger more strikes, having two lines out at once, like a fake "mini-bait ball" it definitely works, more so at very early AM / before dawn even, the warmer it gets. Good luck!

Yep, some Wally's will be buried in the weeds all summer with everything else, it gets expensive unless one collects his own crawler's after the rains though, snot rockets,bass,panfish will clean the hooks 15 to 1 around here.

In case you didn't know, in Ontario you're only allowed one line at a time!

Yup. I learned that too late. There's a comment or two on the bobcaygeon vid getting the point out there, also. Thx!

Y are they so shallow this time of the year?
@YFAwithTodd5 ай бұрын
Great question. My guess is, the panfish are schooling up suspended and/or on drop offs in thick clouds throughout the entire lake, picking off most of the baitfish - looking like bait balls on the depth finder. I'm thinking the 'eyes can navigate the weeds better, and find prey in the shadows of weeds with their superior vision. They'll move deeper soon, but many will stay in the thick weeds all summer, though. At noon in summer it will be too hot for the eyes in the weeds, but not at night or early AM. Try early AM, at sunrise, heading into July, for reliable 'eye action. Thanks for watching!

WHAT SPEED R U TROLLING?
@YFAwithTodd5 ай бұрын
Not sure, but slow. That was a 20 HP Mercury on the lowest possible speed on a 16' jon boat, but still in gear. On the basic Minn Kota (used in calmer water), it's setting 3 of 5 (slow). But here, fish were caught trolling into the wind (slowing the boat greatly) and also with the wind, speeding me up, so precise troll speed in the thick weeds wasn't a huge factor. Thanks for watching!

Am I missing something here....title says mosquito and you said mosquito in your intro but description says something about water temp in PA ....your gps on your graph shows you on Pymatuning. The island in the background between you and the damn is also on Pymatuning not.
@YFAwithTodd4 ай бұрын
Great observations! It's all mosquito lake in the vid. Except, I was too rushed (to avoid the storms) so I forgot take video of the weeds as seen on the electronics, which was important to the point of the video, so I used the Pyma depth images from the previous week, which were exactly the same (5' deep, thick weeds). I left in the GPS info in the shot, to see if anyone would catch it... and you did. (Very nice job!) I'm in PA, so I say "PA" to reference any water at that latitude, including Pyma/Mosquito/Arthur, as distinguished from water farther north (New York, Canada) or south (the Carolinas/Arkansas), where I also do vids. Thanks for watching!
