Today we talk about converting the Abarth 124 to run a TJet engine just like the European Abarth 500. This should fix it all.

The two rods go into cyl 1 and 2. They are there to line up all the pistons at the same height. The two round plug pieces go into the side of the cam box. They slide into slots in the cam shafts to hold and line them up. YOU CANNOT FIT THE ONE FOR THE EXHAUST CAMSHAFT WITH THE TURBO ON! Intake side fits in fine. Also have a look at he intake manifold as the tjet ones have a purge valve For evap underneath. Also if you are thinking about doing cams do it before you put the cam box on, they slide out from the side which in the 124 it will be on the firewall so it will have to come back off just to swap the cams!

Pistons & Petrol I am pretty sure that the cams come out from the back side of the cam box. I maybe be wrong we haven’t done it as of yet in the next few weeks we will be pulling cams out of a tjet but until then I won’t know the answer I’m sure there are people in the community that will know for sure!
@aurick861
@aurick861 5 жыл бұрын
@@SantarelliPuncake They will slide out to the front of the engine. You still need access to the back to undo the two gearwheels bolts. The cams won't slide out unless the box is off the car ...the valvess would push up on the tappers into the cams and would block the cams from coming out. I've just donee the camshaft replacement a few weeks ago on my T-jet. Thee two cam locking plugs get used togeether wheen tightening the bolts for the gearwheels, aafter that they will be timed together, so only one (intake side) is used when installing on to the engine.

As far as I understand why Fiat developed Multiair was to get some of the properties of direct injection to enhance emission control and fuel economy. Fiat lately sells almost exclusively economy cars so another not less significant objective was to cut cost. Multiair head is suprisingly cheaper to manufacture than dual cam phasors plus they did not have to deal with high pressure fuel pump, expensive injectors and carbon build up issues (Mini/VW TSI). Kind of brilliant, but not what and enthusiast is looking for. Not to say that these circumstances did not yield some other interesting properties, but it is not what they were meant to do. That said I'm amazed how far you guys were able take these engines.

Fiat have always been very modular. They upgrade components of existing designs and are often backwards compatible. The pins are to set the pistons at 50% stroke. Then you can whizz the cams around as much as you like with no worries.

First of all, thank you so much for the work that you're doing and the knowledge that you are spreading for the entire Fiat 124 community. My question is that you're first turbo swap seemingly went very smoothly and you were able to get some fairly decent horsepower out of that set up. What is different about this turbo swap it has made it so problematic? Is it that this engine in the white 124 is just a dog or is it simply because this is a substantially bigger Turbo and it would be problematic no matter what 124 you put it in?

LAW MAN something is blocking oil flow to the Multiair. Its covered in the video. The black car was a good engine and a simple, tried and true 1.4 setup. The white car’s engine was just a lemon from the start.

Nebbia affaraccimiei no. They’re having the same issue with a Punto. I have been speaking with one of their customer. The Punto and 124 ECU’s are a bit different as are North American and European ECU calibrations. They’re not the same as a Punto. Besides, this is not a tuning issue.

If I remember correctly those automatic transmissions were very slow and could be improved with some simple tweaks. 4.3 is a good engine but you need to do a lot to it to get a lot out of it. M103/M104 or a turbo OM606 would be far better but that thing ain't bad too. If I was you I would get nice exhaust (including headers) and maybe an ECU remap

You're gonna lose low and mid end torque, swapping to a t-jet head. Multiairs are way torquier. Either way, people in Europe have been porting the multiair bricks to allow for more flow.
