I have always really liked this movie a lot. I think it is one of the coolest most under-rated Horror movies ever. (Even though my first Horror movie 'Mad Jack' also came out the same year '2000' 😐) But THE CONVENT is IMHO a Super Bad Azz FUN & COOL movie!! Mike Mendez's direction is perfect in this movie. Respect

So the movie starts off very promising - like it's made by Tarantino or something. Then it continues like every 90s 2000s young kids going to seek trouble movie. Which is still fantastic. But when it comes time for the demons to come out - it all falls down fast. The costumes and effects are great, but it's like the director ran out of money and desire to finish the movie. Feels like he left the cast to figure out what they want to do and shut himself in his trailer to get wasted. When I see so much potential it really gets to me. Because this could have been a real horror jewel, a cult classic.
