Brooklyn 99 was one of the better examples of police brutality, especially for a comedy show. It was written sensitively and carefully, being very sparingly funny to keep it serious. Terry Crews, of course, acted his ass off and props to everyone.

I'm Black and I'm gay, but the most traumatizing things that have happened to be were because I'm Black. When racism happens, it's as if you were in a movie where everyone thinks you're someone you're not and you're trying to convence them that you are who you say you are (think The Net with Sandra Bullock). Racism replaces who you with a Black Boogieman that Whites are afraid of. It doesn't matter how hard you've worked, how hard you've tried to be kind to others and make good choices. You are BLACK and Blacks deserve their lot. I've experienced this in the US. I've experienced it in France. I've experienced it in Poland, Hungary, Italy...No one is trying to hang us from trees. They are trying to kill us from the inside out. That's what racism feels like. Oh and you're crazy because you're exaggerating when you say racism is everywhere.

@@anomaly9156 India is a really diverse country with a lot of interethnic and interreligious communities. If you think about it, the cast system functions much like the race system. I'm in the process of reading a research article called "Japanese Race Propaganda." It's really interesting to see how "race" works in other contexts. If you're interested, I'm sure you can find information on racism in India.

I know why. It's called fear. When someone is not mature enough to understand, instead of trying to learn they will be fearful and when they act out it will show like hate. Also, if they are not connected to who they are they will take it out onto the world. It's a cliche but true 'hurt people hurt people' The important thing for you is not to take that onto yourself and feel bad. Don't let that kind of energy rob you of your peace. Hugs ❤

The saddest thing was, racism went long way in every country. Everyone who isn't local often got this treatment. It's partially part of human psychology's defense mechanism but in a long run, opinions could change if they gave others chances. We are humans. We are people. We deserve the same chance as everyone else.

This video honestly made me cry. I am Native American, and I grew up with this. I had to learn English at 4 to go to public school, and got told that my people's language was "dead". I was made fun of for my culture, called slurs I won't repeat, told I shouldn't exist anymore. The other day, I had several people online harass a post I made about Indigenous People's Day coming up. They commented that "Natives don't exist anymore", "it wasn't genocide, just culturcide.", "Oh I'm Irish. You don't see us being mad at the English for taking OUR land", and "oh you guys were already fighting eachother. Why does it matter that we came in and finished the job?". It was cruel, and I am sad to admit that it is something I am used to at this point in my life.

This is something that makes me really angry, mostly because I don’t understand it. I never have. And it’s so sad. I can’t even imagine what the world would be like without racism. I mean you would think that people have gone past it. We’ve witnessed it more times that I can count and yet there are still people who think that it’s okay to be mean to someone if they’re different that most of the people. You don’t judge people if you don’t know them. You don’t say a movie is bad if you haven’t seen it so don’t treat others badly if you don’t know them. Easy.

The bit that hit hardest for me was the bit when the girl was shouting Kahlil after he had been shot. Kahlil is my cousins name. I'm white and he's mixed, his mom is white and his dad's family emigrated to Canada from India when he was a child. As I have gotten older, I see things and comments and it scares me. One time we were sitting outside my grandmothers care home, mere minutes after she had died, and a lady told him he shouldn't be there, and should go away cause he wasn't meant to be there. I was 9 and he was 7. Neither of us new what was happening at the time. Another time we went into a shop together to look and the owner told him "I know you aren't gonna buy anything, your just gonna cause trouble, for me and this young lady (me) so get out" it made me feel sick. I love him more than anything, and I hate the way the world treats him.

I have no idea what the song was about, since i don"t speak any indian or turkish language, just English and a few others. so i had no idea what the song meant.and i said so and then she said: "but you must know, since your Muslim!"and the the other girl said " why do't you where that thing?" she meant the hijab. Muslim is a religion, not a race. I'm catholic. i never felt so stereotyped for my race in my life. oh and, these girls are black not white. just shows racism can in any form shape and color.

I remember when all the boys from the class left for a medical examination, the class teacher began to ask all the girls about their plans for the future and about universities. When it came to me, he first asked a question like everyone else and then said "... or are you going to get married right after school". I don't have a boyfriend or anyone else, I was the same as everyone else and studied well. I have an international family, we have many Central Asian nationalities. I'm not even a Muslim to talk about it as religious or cultural stereotypes (I don't believe in stereotypes and respect all cultures). It was racism, the teacher focused on me, all the girls noticed it. It was so shocking that I didn't complain to anyone. I often met with prejudices both in my family (about gender) and among peers (but they were children, I was understanding enough to show them that I was the same child), but this situation with the teacher really hurt me. I was in pain.

I was in the same class with my brother, but he went out with other boys and did not hear this conversation. When I told him, he was also so shocked that he didn't even believe it for a second. We didn't tell adults or other teachers, because it was useless, they would still justify him. I just didn't want to hear other adults and teachers tell me that I'm exaggerating and this is a misunderstanding. This teacher often emphasized my nationality at the level of hints. My brother, ironically, was spared. This teacher never wrote about any news to me in the chat, but always passed them through his brother or mother. It felt like ignoring my freedom, ignoring me as an independent person. And this is definitely not what you want to feel at any time in your life, and especially as a teenager.

I remember being a little girl wondering why my skin looks a little tanner than the other girls, why do I talk different from them I'm Hispanic I wanted so badly to be white cause they would make fun of my accent I grew up speaking Spanish it wasn't my fault. So I tried to stop talking like myself, so now whenever I use my accent they tell me "Why are you acting Mexican?". "You don't have an accent! Your offending us cause you want to pretend". What's worse is how people look at my father like he's stupid his accent is Very thick so some words don't come out clearly and I have to translate a lot, my younger brother was raised different they learned from my experiences, "Oh she got bullied cause she spoke Spanish, let's not teach him Spanish". "Oh he likes Mexican food, let's not tell everybody". It's not fair that every race besides white people are forced to be scared to embrace their culture, I'm a 16 year old girl I don't really look like the other hispanics I'm not thin I'm a bit over weight but I got curves, I don't look as pretty as the other girls my hair is very curl so it's difficult to manage so it's ugly. I don't have a lot of faith in humanity, Humans are horrible people 😟 I don't like this world I told my mom to apologize for bringing me into this world (I apologized later)

I am a mixed (white and native to Central America). My dad was born in Mexico. Everyone viewed his family as stuck up because my grandpa worked in America. When he was 5 they crossed the border and I live in a mainly black and Hispanic neighborhood . I have been told I am not Hispanic/native because I am too white and don’t know Spanish but when I work with my dad in white rich neighborhoods we get looks. I was on a bus and a black lady was screaming at another lady about how she was legal and she was gonna call ice. Really I’m not enough for either side and it hurts knowing that I am viewed as stupid worthless and poor because of my race and then the other side I am viewed as racist, privileged and hatful. If I get pulled over by a cop me being half White isn’t going to help me u can look at me and tell me that I am Hispanic. I really want to be an actor but I don’t know any huge actor that is Hispanic and doesn’t know how to speak Spanish. My last name is chan and I always get comments about how I’m Asian and they aren’t very nice.

I was in kindergarten when I was bullied for my skin color and my hair texture. The kids would leave me out of things or call me thing. I was scared to ride the bus in fear that my hair would be called a birds nest or they would stick stuff in my hair. I couldn't talk to my mom about it because she is white. I couldn't talk to my dad about it because he grow up with other balck people. I was the only black girl in my neighborhood, the only one who looked different. We continued to move from apartment to apartment because the landlord would evict us because my mom was a single mother raising mixed raised kids. I don't wear my hair natural because when I did I was hated for it. I was stereotyped and now I try to combat that with humor. I feel like I don't belong because the white kids treat me like I'm different and the black kids and me have nothing in common. I am called slurs while getting off the bus in highschool. Two Mexican kids called me the n word hard r and said I would never have rights. When I get called pretty I never think I am because thats how I was taught by other people. Because I'm fat, because I'm black, because I'm gay, I am the ugliest thing on this earth. That's how I am made to feel, and now I believe it because thats how everyone sees me.
