Wistful music from the main menu screen--all the more poignant if one of your team perishes (I almost lost Wrex).

There are many highly different opinions on the matter. To me, this is the best thing I've ever experienced, and I don't use this term often (the contrary being every teenager claiming the new Katy Perry song to be the best thing ever and that she's a genius. Whether she really is or not isn't the point, but rather the abundant use of the term). And I've seen many movies, played quite a lot of games, read many awesome books and watched quite a bit of anime. It's *really good*. Aside from the fact that the first game didn't age so well in terms of gameplay (which takes a bit of time to get used to), the only thing that a lot of people who disliked the series at first was due to the fact that the dialogue feels like two robots speaking to each other (it's easier to understand by watching it in action). I understand this and they're not entirely wrong, but I don't mind simply because the acting is great and the text in that dialogue is enriched with so much content that takes you into its universe.

Maximilian Ellermann I played the trilogy over a 3-year period (didn't start the first one until 2011). Some of Garrus' one liners still make me laugh just thinking about them.

MultiFathom There really were some great moments in the Trilogy. Garrus' one liners aside Mordins line of thought was overwhelming and funny. Hamster on Coffee indeed.

this is probably the greatest game menu screen ever, the music + the characters who you will meet through the game phasing in and out, it's so simple yet so effective of setting the tone of the game

After exploring countless worlds, jumping from cluster to cluster, fighting Geth here and there, and finally, you reach the VI unit on the Prothean homeworld; here, you meet Vigil and he explains a situation of desperation and sorrow regarding the slow eradication of their species by the Reapers. Very powerful, ethereal, and is the core to what Mass Effect is about: the excitement of space exploration, the eventual clarity of the unknown, and the power of friendship between the crew. I don't know what part gets you guys when the starting menu comes up, but what gets me,....is the slow fading images of the crew on the Normandy. I am glad I was able to make the journey with this franchise.

This was my first Xbox 360 game I got in Christmas 2007 from my Mom and Dad. I was 19 at the time and freshly graduated high school in 2007. This game holds a very special place in my heart and remains one of my one of my favorite games ever.

My favorite series of games is The Legend of Zelda, Fallout, and Mass Effect. Each give me and experience like no other. I tried The Old Republic, which was said to be a lot like Mass Effect. It wasn't bad but it didn't give me the same feeling Mass Effect did. Never before had I been so interested in learning every little thing I could about each species. Never before had I been so curious about each ship and their battle tactics. Vorcha, Human, Asari, Elcor, Hannar, Reaper, Salarians, Turians, Protheans, Batarians, Geth, Quarians, Volus, my beloved Krogan,Thrasher Maws,The Rachni, C-Sec, The Alliance, The League of One, The Citadel, Cerberus, the Asari huntresses, The First Contact, The Rachni Wars, The Krogan Rebellions, The Genophage and so...so much more. I love it all.

This music, it just, it lives. When i start mass effect 1 and hear this. I remember, how i played it last time and i dont care. This music just makes me to explore the world of mass effect again, explore to galaxy, meet my bro Garus, "young" and naive Liara, hardcore and badass Wrex and Tali, my femfathale... Also always ready Kydan and, yea, even you bitchass Ashley, who i always leave on Virmire, but i am not making that choice lightly, trust me... This music is embodiment of everything that Mass Effect universe stands for. It promises, it invites. The question is: Will you take its hand?

Just finished Mass Effect again, and again I cant stop listening to this music :\ 7 years ago when I played Mass Effect, I was always loosing Wrex in Virmire. And now I was prepared to lose him again, did his personal quest, talked with him about everything, shot a lot of geth and other "bad guys" with him, and was ready to say goodbye to Wrex, but, not this time! :) I forgot that high charisma allows to save him, it was quite a nice surprise for me :) After all these years, to play Mass Effect again, was more interesting, than many most recent "good" games ;)
@MultiFathom9 жыл бұрын
procc I actually lost him at Virmire but couldn't handle it and reloaded several times until he survived. :) In Mass Effect 2 I lost Legion at the end--that time I let the story play out. It was hard though because I was attached to that sentient AI. :'(

i don´t know if it´s just me, but i for one really love the intro screen to Mass Effect, the fading character pictures and music really manages to capture what the game is all about and that it´s the introduction to something amazing.Fallout 4 managed to do the same thing.

Currently replaying through this again thanks to backwards compatibility on the Xbox one. On the grind to level 60 again and this song always sends shivers down my spine. Great video.
@MultiFathom8 жыл бұрын
+Zach South How's the emulation? Does it play just like the original? I hope they add ME2 and 3 too. Or better yet, release a remastered trilogy on Xbox One. :)
@zachsouth3148 жыл бұрын
+MultiFathom It plays pretty much like the original, only with a bit more of a frame rate delay. When asked about adding multi-disc games to the backwards compatibility list, Microsoft said that's their next objective. So with any hope we'll be seeing the next few mass effects within the next month or two! Most of the companys have already said they're not remastering games now that backwards compatibility is out, as they will just grant the licensing for Microsoft to do it instead. (Less work on the companys behalf I suppose.) Last I heard, Bioware confirmed that they were in studio planning for another mass effect? Could just be crowd rumors though.
@MultiFathom8 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it plays well enough. If they get multi-disc games working, that will open up lots of good games. Can't wait. Yes, the next ME is Andromeda. I usually wait for games to drop to my magic price point of $30, but I'll make an exception for ME. :-)

I used to love this song but now it just makes me depressed and wish I had alzheimer's so I could forget about Mass Effect 3.
@simonlussier23098 жыл бұрын
+UmkelBob Always happens with good games. Call of duty, Battlefield, Diablo, Elder Scrolls, WoW was actually good at some point, Neverwinter Nights, Duke Nukem 3D, CS 1.6, Crysis, Unreal tournament (looking forward to the new one though), pretty much every good PC game that went console fucked it up, including Mass effect. The first one was great, then they changed medigel to res only and added hp recovery if you camp behind shit long enough, not to mention they made it easy as hell to aim. Always kills it for me. Fuck that noob gameplay >:
@AntonChigurh-8 жыл бұрын
+Hudson Matheus Unfortunately, he's right. Whenever something hits the consoles, it becomes dumbed down, easy to understand. A perfect example of this is Fallout 4, hopefully they won't fuck up TES 6. Do I blame them? No, I don't, because the consoles is where most of the money comes from, so gotta prioritize that first.
@joshuak57988 жыл бұрын
