Yes that saved me from a possible collision years ago. I had a green light but I noticed a driver approaching from my left with a red light who didn't appear to be slowing down. So I slowed down as I approached the intersection and sure enough the idiot blew right through the red light without even slowing down. If I hadn't been paying attention I might have driven into the intersection and been hit by that lunatic.
