The Arturia Keystep pairs very nicely with the Synthstrom Deluge. Here's proof. #synthstromdeluge #synthtricks #deluge

I’ve used this to make some stacked synth sounds too since you can map one channel to any number of tracks

Great idea! I have a Keystep lying around but never thought about hooking it up to the Deluge.

Thanks! Yeah it's super useful for being about to control/switch between tracks easily, especially live.

Thanks! I don't remember which set of samples it was exactly that I used for that preset, but if I recall they came from one of the free packs someone posted on the Synthstrom forum: forums.synthstrom.com/categories/deluge-sample-packs

This is a cool video ! I just got a used Deluge a few days ago and It wont respond to midi channel; changes from my midi key board and just always triggers the sound of every single channel on the Deluge simultaneously . Its really annoying not being able to figure out what the problem is and mentioning it to people only to have them not understand what Im saying. Literally when the Deluge is not playing a sequence ,or even if it is , when i press a key on my keyboard the sound loading on each track is triggered and sounds at the same time. Ill try another midi keyboard tomorrow and hope that works , but i've already tried to keyboards now with the same issue.
@BayMud3 жыл бұрын
Hmm. That sounds frustrating. The Deluge usually needs to have MIDI settings learned to an external keyboard by using the "LEARN" button---have you done that with this keyboard already? Is there anything else connected to the two units via MIDI? Most importantly, you said it was bought used, so do you know which firmware your unit is running (they are up to 3.1.4 now) and are you starting from scratch with a new SD card or using the other persons files (which may have MIDI assignments already made)? If you could, a good idea would be to take a quick video of your issue and post it to either the official (forum:forums.synthstrom.com/) or the "Deluge Users" Facebook group.

Bay Mud Thanks for the reply. I have it midi learned and with the most recent firmware. I actually made a video that turned out to be too long to email as attachment to Ian @ Synthstrom but I had to make a youtube channel to post it . I told Ian about it asking for help but so far he hasn't replied. I need to figure out if the Deluge I got is faulty while I still have time to return it on ebay . I mentioned that to Ian as well but he must be busy . the video is titled "demovidforian@synthstrom" if you care to take a look. Yeah im not a fan a facebook or forums but that might be what i haveto do to get any help with this.

@@redbirdsaraceno in my experience Synthstrom support has been good, but it's only two, so possible they missed it. Worth trying again though! I can't seem to find the video--is it possible it's private or unlisted?
@redbirdsaraceno3 жыл бұрын
@@BayMud Yeah its working fine now thankfully . It turned out the other 2 keyboards i tried are faulty.

Can the track length be adjusted per step or does the length have to be a specific measure length? So for instance, can I have the loop end points anywhere in the sequence? I’m asking because I’m interested in making very organic ambient music using a phase loop technique and I want to make sure that each sequenced loop can be looping on its own length - i.e. all the loops are restarting dependently from each other - creating nearly infinite phasing combinations with each pass...with just a few loops (like eno did with tape loops - which happens naturally with tape because your not locked into any specific grid length and overall track length. Thanks.
@BayMud4 жыл бұрын
I do some phased loop stuff in an upcoming video. It's easy to make each track have a unique length. I'm also testing the newest beta firmware that let's you have a ridiculously high note resolution, so you can go in very far and make micro-adjustments (ie, at 192nd steps and even finer), which will be great for giving things an organic feel.
@ofutur4 жыл бұрын
It would be so much easier if the Deluge had a quantize function like on Maschine to fix things post entry :)
@BayMud4 жыл бұрын
You can adjust the quantization settings before recording. I think I have them set pretty loose, so it grabs my natural timing (which is not very tight). I'd prefer to just get better at playing to time, but whatever works!
@GrootsieTheDog4 жыл бұрын
Lol, I’m trying to find out the opposite! I want to make sure I can have a more organic, slightly off timing feel to get away from the groovebox step record quality. Looks like this can easily be achieved!
@BayMud4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, definitely. You can set the quantize level to such a high resolution that it's basically off.

Hey! This sounds great. Can you help me out though. I have the same setup but I cannot get the Keystep to sync up to the Deluge. I have both units powered to a wall outlet via the cables supplied. Midi cables out on the Keystep to the in on the deluge. Can't get it to work. Sigh
@BayMud4 жыл бұрын
Have you adjusted the switches on the back of the Keystep (to set the sync to internal or midi, etc.)? If you're trying to play the keys and trigger sounds from the Deluge did you "learn" the audition pads of the Delufe to the Keystep keys?
@uemfbc4 жыл бұрын
@@BayMud I was able to figure it out. Turns out the Keystep needed an update and to be registered? I don't know why, but that seemed to fix it! So everything is working now. Thanks for the reply!
