I realize your target audience is comprised mostly of medical professionals but as a patient I find this type of video very informative. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I figure many people just want to know things even if it isn't directly applicable to their life. I am not usually thinking of a target audience when I make videos.

Dr. Brandon i have MS and im currently having a severe sciatica attack. Im unable to take strong meds like lyrica because i already have chronic disabling vertigo. My blood work shows high WBC of 16..and CRP almost 10..the GP could not figure where the infection is from and i cant take steroids obviously. Do you thnk the infection is causing the leg pain to worsen? And the 2 counts unrelated? Im not sure if taking an antibiotic will help ease the pain but as a neuro what would you advise to stop the inflammation? Im bedboud and in a wheechair and because of positiinal vertigo as well unfortunately i cant switch positions in bed i have to always be upright

Geeking out with Dr. Beaber with my morning coffee. I love this kind of content. I am in so many MS groups online where many believe “lesions” in the brain or spine mean MS. I will definitely be sharing this video in them. Keep up the good work!

I've seen your MS mimics video in the past. These type videos are very informative as well as interesting. They are a great addition to have in my MS information folder for later too. I would love to see more videos on MS mimics, especially those that include symptoms related to severe, chronic GI conditions as one of the symptoms as well as symptoms similar to MS. Also, thank you for all the extra time you take to prepare these videos for us. You cannot imagine how helpful they are to us.

Could you do a video on the use of psychedelics to treat MS? Specifically Ibogaine. There was a small open label study published d in the journal Nature in January of 2024 that had 30 Special Forces veterans with TBI participate in a Stanford study that looked at the effect of taking Ibogaine to treat depression and suicidality experienced by the veterans who were disabled due to TBI. This was small, open label study, but the results were tremendous. It has been theorized that due to observed neuroplasticity, it may be a potentially very effective treatment for those suffering from both Parkinson's and MS. There have been studies done on animals with EAE where very positive effects were observed. There are some few clinics both in Mexico and Canada that perform this treatment. There was an excellent interview done by Joe Rogan recently.

Dr. Beaber, thank you for your insightful videos! I have a suggestion for a future topic. I recently started taking Saxenda to manage my weight (BMI 27 feels challenging, especially among slim and fit friends). Without a prescription, I obtained 10 pens through a friend in the field and have noticed a significant decrease in appetite, which I’m very happy about. I recently came across an article suggesting that drugs like liraglutide may suppress systemic inflammation. This made me wonder: could such medications have potential benefits for MS patients, particularly those with higher BMIs? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!

Hi, thank You for such a informative video! I have Mog diagnosis that now other doctors think is MS. I have lesions only in optic nerves and in medulla oblongata. Doctors says that medulla is typical for Ms. MOg tests in my country was without titre-just positive. Isn’t that lesion in medula is also typical for Mog? And aren’t so few lesions more like Mog not like MS? As far as I know usually Ms pantients have 10-15 lesions. Aquaporine is negative and I have 2 mild oligoclonal chains found in CFs. On Rituximab, got relapse shortly after full dose 1 g.

I only have lesions in my c-spine and t-spine. no brain lesions. I have been told that this is atypical. are there other diseases that would only have spinal lesions? Thanks

Thanks for the video. Does Sjogren's present with the same type of lesions in the brain, optic nerves and spinal cord?
@DrBrandonBeaber
@DrBrandonBeaber 27 күн бұрын
Yes. Sjogren syndrome can cause neurological manifestations including optic neuritis, transverse myelitis, and also neuronopathy (injury to the dorsal root ganglia).

So basically MS and neurocysticercosis are the only diseases that look the same on mri and are not rare?
@DrBrandonBeaber

Neurocysticercosis has unique features on medical imaging and is not typically mistaken for multiple sclerosis (there are rare exceptions to this).

This might sound a bit arrogant (?) from me, but in the start of my journey with MS, when told I had it according to the McDonald criteria by the neurologist, I tried to put some other hypothesis, as a patient, like I don't know lupus and other diseases that crause brain lesions. She then asked me if I wanted to be 100% sure then they could do a brain biopsy. I thought to myself "hell no" and said no not needed :) hahaha Since then I did have some stuff like my right leg not working, which was fixed by steroids - which... confirmed that it prooobably is MS.

Part of effective treatment is correct diagnosis and proper understanding of the disease. Not all videos are for everyone, but if you interact with the video like commenting as you did here, you'll get more similar videos. There is no cure currently, so there will not be a video describing a cure, and any other video that claims to should be looked at with great skepticism
