Hey Multiplier, thanks a lot for this. What a great surprise to see Melodyne featured in one of your videos! :) You are right, the polyphonic note detection (aka DNA) is not 100% infallible. However, most problems occur with complex audio or even full stereo mixes that people throw in - and that’s not what DNA was designed for. It works best with clean and dry recordings (e.g. no reverb) of single instruments. This should give you good results. And if the automatic note detection doesn’t get everything right, there’s still a way to manually fix it before you convert the audio to MIDI. We encourage anyone to download our free Melodyne trial and see how it works with your audio material: www.celemony.com/en/trial. Again, thanks, and keep up your good work!

I've been using this fantastic feature since.... at least since Melodyne 3.2! Now I'm using Melodyne 5 Studio almost daily. BUT in 3.2 it was possible to export MIDI *WITH PITCH-BEND INFORMATION*, and I used that feature to great effect. For example, I recorded someone playing the musical saw, which we all know to be very warbly pitch-wise, and then extracted the MIDI with pitch bend info to create a theremin sound that tracked the saw performance perfectly. Is there a way in Melodyne 5 to export MIDI that tracks pitch-bends? I'd like to be able to track a smooth vocal glissando, or a trombone performance. This was such a useful feature.

i love how technology makes transcription faster (tho faster =/= efficient), but maybe do some ear training? could help improve audiation and overall musicianship, which may help in the long run (esp since current software struggles with harmonic dictation). your best tools are your ears! anyhow, i digress

How do you transfer audio to midi, and keep the nuances of the original tuning, rather than it correcting the notes, Can it utilise the pitch bend facilities of midi pitch bend?

@LexTreefrog3 жыл бұрын
If the daw doesn’t cut it 98% of the time, then by golly melodyne knocks that number down to……94% of the time (been using melodyne for 3 years). As the literal developers of melodyne also stressed in their comment on this video, your best tool in doing this is controlling how clean your audio source is (no reverb, panning, etc.)

Ableton "audio to midi" is a travesty. It's old, but has always been utterly useless! They should be very embarrassed not doing anything about it. "Drums to midi" is especially laughable.
