@@nicoleoda508 you multiply the fractions the way they are. say -5/6 * 1/4. ignore the sign first, multiply 5/6 * 1/4 as it is. if you've reached this lesson, then im taking a guess that you're aware of basic multiplication already. 5*1 is still 5 and 6*4 is 24. the product is going to be 5/24. going back to the sign, since negative (-) * positive (+) equals negative, the final product would be -5/24. i hope this helped.

@max collen so to get the most simplified version you would use the smallest number that goes into both

You would know by practising your times tables and if you had memorized them, you would remember that 21 and 49 are 7 times 3 and 7 times 7. If you don't know, you can try reducing by trial and error starting with 2, if they are even, then 3 etc.

Why didn't you just cross cancel instead of the divide by 15 business??? 5 go into 5 1 time. 5 goes into 15 3 times. 3 goes into 3 1 time. 3 goes into 9 3 times. On the top you have 1 x 1 = 1 on the bottom you have 3 x 3 = 9 which is your 1/9 fraction.
