You are 100% correct, and it’s best not to stand nearby. Those are carbon fiber swords spinning at 2500-3000 revolutions per minute. You’d be turned into a spiral cut ham. At club flying fields and sanctioned events there are stations and barricades or flight lines set up to give a safe buffer. Injuries are very rare in the hobby but like anything fun, motorcycles, race cars, go karts, skiing, horseback riding, skydiving, crap can occasionally happen and a couple folks managed to lose their life. usually the operator, not the spectators.

Without a doubt yes. My RC aerobatic planes are very real too, but the power to weight ratio are incredibly high making them able to pull around 40 Gs in flight. If a human were to do that in a full scale plane not only would they die the airplane structure would break apart or even disintegrate.

I saw a video years ago when I was a kid with a guy controlling a stunt helicopter up and down in the air. It was moving so fast I thought it was fake. But I was at a park and some dude had one. And it was incredible as to how responsive it was. The throttle isn’t on the bottom either, it’s in the center for these type of helicopters

It's not moving because the blades have no pitch when accelerating and he then change the pitch when he wants to have lift. Exactly the same with a real helicopter.

@@jacksonsnellings9860 I just double checked, the RPM of the rotor is fixed (after the initial acceleration phase). The lift only starts when the pitch of the blade is modified. So at first there is no pitch and hence no blast directed to the ground. The helicopter takes of so fast that we don't have time to see the grass move. This principle also give the possibility to fly inverted with a negative pitch.
