RETROMOD - That is our new favorite word. :) Can the Multitool be installed on any grinder? We have a low-speed 8" in the shop we use for sharpening but the second wheel isn't getting any use -- wondering if that would be a good add-on. Great video! Keep it up!

Can’t claim rights to that one. I borrowed it from the automotive community. 😁 For the most part it can be hooked to any grinder 1/2hp or better. Check their website for more details (link in bio)

I love my multitool, have it hooked up to a 1hp Jet grinder. Hey Chop, what happened to your video on the 2x48 build you did a while back?
@HouseofChop2 жыл бұрын
The multitool is badass! Huge fan of it. The 2x48 video I had to pull down. Ed that was making the kits stopped making them and I was answering endless questions mostly about “where can I buy a kit” something I never had control over. It’s unfortunate Ed stopped supporting them. It was an awesome and very effective conversion.
@SWFabrication.2 жыл бұрын
@@HouseofChop It certainly is haha. Ahh man, I didn't know he stopped dealing with the 2x48 plans. But I can understand why you'd pull it. Too bad it really is an awesome and effective kit and with a little ingenuity can be turned into an awesome addition to any shop. I just started building after being on the back burner for a while. Do you still have the video of your review and build? If so could you forward it through DM? Thanks Chop, I appreciate the response.

Neat adaptation of an old tool to do something new! One question: doesn't a grinder spin too fast to make a good sander? I have an older belt sander, and it works really well cutting through just about anything (metal, wood, etc) but it does not get the metal excessively hot because it does not spin super fast. Judging by some of your shots grinding various bits of metal, it seems like this belt may be moving too fast and you'll wind up cooking things rather than cleanly sanding them. Maybe less pressure would avoid this? But then does it cut as effectively? I'm not knocking the tool - it's a neat idea and your video is outstanding - I'm mostly just curious. Thanks!
@HouseofChop5 жыл бұрын
AmplifyDIY That’s what Multitool is all about! It was fun giving this old grinder a second lease on life. No doubt a variable speed grinder would give you more options. Still the single speed is very useful. In the video I was really laying into to show how robust a 1/2hp set up like this can be. I’ve since used it effectively without cooking things 😉
@drewt32104 жыл бұрын
Check out Jason @FireballTools Go Kart Grinder video. It's waaay faster than a regular grinder and eats metal at an incredible rate. In fact it cuts so fast the metal doesn't have time to heat before it's dust. Speed is your friend, not the enemy. Best, @HoneyOnWales

Absolutely love both of my multitool grinders. Of course it all varies on what grinder you have to what you have to do to get it adapted. Bolted right onto my baldor. I was like you when I started to assemble on my craftsman and was like Houston we got a problem. Great solution for the use of tools you have. How are you enjoying the Eastwood blast cabinet??? Great video

I'm super impressed with the Multitool, just awesome! I'm delighted to hear you have had similar experience. I wanted to show how easy and inexpensively the modification could be made to adapt it to the Craftsman Block grinder. So many of those are still out there kicking around collecting dust when they could be used. Why let a good piece of hardware go to waste when it could be doing serious work on the cheap. Thank you for watching and taking a moment to leave a comment Chris. I always appreciate your support. 🔥👍🏼🔥

Old vid but hey amigo - Do you think it would be better with a variable speed bench grinder for fine control on blades etc? Fine as is? (Love the block btw - mine is a 1961 1/3hp on original stand and it punches way above its weight)
@HouseofChop2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Absolutely! A variable speed unit would make it way more functional. My intention is to move it over to a unit that’s variable speed with a bit more punch.
@baldwin92812 жыл бұрын
@@HouseofChop yeah figured. A low speed high torque grinder like one of the 1750rpm dudes might work as well. Drive wheel is 5.5” I think - so that gives about 2520 sfpm which is not bad. If I’m right I think the low bucks variable speed grinders lose power with low rpm? Just about mad enough at my current setups to find the money 😂
