Apple Newton Messagepad 2100 released in 1997. This device was a PDA and ridiculously expensive as we point out in the video. It was discontinued only a few months later in 1998 due to it's high price and poor handwriting recognition. The device was primarily for note taking but it did include some other apps as well, including third party games and additional software.

original osft! albeit no pranks on the street ;) on the topic of iphones though, i'd actually be down for a "mum tries out her new iphone" - maybe as a contrast to the last times she tried out ios versions, as well as to the last iphone before her new one perhaps :) also, what happened to radiation concerns? from recent videos in general, even outside of osft itself, i've noticed there is an increasing laxness about tech being e.g. on the wrist, in pockets, etc. which i find good :D

Diana has been pretty up to date in regards to IOS so testing it wouldn't be anything too new. I feel she will probably get the iphone 16 base model in several months. I'm still cautious myself. I never leave my phone in my pocket unless it's in airplane mode. Probably seems like quite odd behaviour from a tech KZbinr when you think about it :P

They are the real sounds. The only edit I did in regards to sounds was making Diana make the blow up/delete sound when talking about your money disappearing when you buy this device.

That kind of stuff was literally made, drawn and sold in Japan, just so you know. Probably does not have email or any hidden daemons, just firmware.

I think it would've been better if Diana tried this through a phone with actual pen support than the mouse, and through RDP as I'm pretty sure the emulator isn't on Android :] Still, it was fun to watch :]

Yeah, its a bit odd doing a mobile OS on a desktop with keyboard and mouse. It was good to have something new though as I was going for something other than a typical linux distro.

i still cary around my laptop instead of using my phone phones are too small i need a 13inch screen minimum they are just too small and mobile websites are too annoying to use and a real keyboard is just better than a touch screen

It depends what you are doing. Video editing, yeah, I like my 43 inch screen. Watching a video or reading news, A 6 inch screen is fine :)

You need to do mum tries out templeOS and mum tries out windows phone you can emulate it on windows with visual studio I think but you probably need the 2015 version or something and to run it on windows 8.1 or 7 i emulate windows phone 8.1 years ago

The AI videos were good, but even as a massive AI enthusiast I feel like it was starting to get overwhelming.

There was a point back in the day where people were complaining that the original OSFirstTimer videos were getting stale, that was why "OSFirstTimer Advanced" (software testing) became a thing, to break stuff up a bit. I think balance is what needs to be focused on, OS's, Software and AI. I'll hold back on AI for a couple months before doing another of those, but never 2 AI videos in a row.
