This week Jo is dealing with two families, one where a mum is at breaking point after her son is misbehaving after the death of her husband. And another mum who suffers from MS and can’t handle her daughter who rules the house.
Family conflicts are usually kept behind closed doors - until now. Fresh from her role in Supernanny, Jo Frost brings her experience to a new talk show format.
Real Families brings you stories of modern day family life from around the world through the eyes of children, parents, and parenting experts.

Jo is so flippin’ amazing! She understands and demonstratively likes the kids while her approach when she speaks with them is warm yet neutral. She is able to get to the heart of the matter. She is an angel to so many families.

I can't believe that Dean expected all pictures of that little boy's daddy put away out of sight as if he never existed! What a selfish egotistical arrogant man! Makes me wonder if he truly was Shawn's best friend. He made moves on Sharon right away after Shawn passed. He just covered it up by saying he was just checking on her when clearly, he wanted a relationship with her. Dean totally disgust me, as well as his mother. Dean took on Sharon at her most vulnerable time! Did she receive a huge life insurance check after Shawn's untimely death? I'm trying to understand Deans motive to act so rude and disrespectful. I am curious as to how Sharon and Dean worked out. I hope she dropped him like a hot potatato!

my daughter lost her father at 6 actually 5 days after she turned 6 so I completely understand the heartbreak & every1 has to mourn in their own time & own way but what has worked for us is I didn’t start dating immediately as I needed to focus on helping my daughter come to terms with the loss the big thing with my daughter is talking I don’t bring up the actual loss but I discuss simple every day things my husband did as I’m trying to help her to no her father. I also tell her often if she needs to cry over it I’m here or if she just wants to share stories about him I’m here I think the main thing is to let the child no u r there for them & that u feel the loss also. It’s been almost 6 years & no behavioral problems with my daughter I honestly believe it is because I gave her space & time to deal with the loss without also having to deal with seeing me with a new man before she had even come to terms with the loss of her father.. as I said every1 has to deal & mourn in their own way so I am in no way judging this mothers choice to bring another man into her life it’s just my experience with helping my child come to terms with life without her father & as a child that also lost my own father at 7 it was VERY difficult for me when my mother started to date almost immediately aftr my own father died I was an angry child as I felt like my mother didn’t love my father & that made me feel like if she could move on so soon aftr my dad passed did she even care that he was gone & I was mourning? As she was putting a lot of effort & attention into her new man when I felt my sister & I needed her to help us understand..I came to love my stepfather AFTER I was an adult & realized that their relationship had nothing to do with my biological dad but as a child I was mad at my mom over her moving on before I even truly understood my father was never coming home

Getting involved with a man that looks, talks and acts like a child's father 6 months after loosing him shows she never loved him. If she did she would not be able to do that. How selfish of her to not let her son mourn in his own time. The kid probably thinks he could be replaced that easily as well.
@anngarnsey3622
@anngarnsey3622 6 жыл бұрын
These people lack basic common sense. That woman’s insecurities have completely destroyed her family. Trying to replace his father is so completely selfish without giving her son anytime to mourn. I can’t imagine going into relationship six months after a major life changing event. Trying to force this man onto her child is selfish and immature. Putting your own needs before your grief stricken child is unacceptable.

The first mum is very selfish. She started a relationship with a man who is very similar to her sons father. Why would she move so fast after 6 months? If she loved her sons father as much as she said then she would of waited before starting a new relationship and let her son grieve his father without his fathers best friend having a relationship with his mum.

Deans mom is awful. They are so damn selfish. That poor boy. He needs love and compassion not fingers pointing at him. His mom needs to get rid of dean and focus on that boy. God i hate deans mom she is awful to talk about that poor boy that way. Disgusting. She hates him and you can tell. Awful people. Dean needs to go. That poor boy is put through too much. His dad passed 18 months prior to the show and this dean guy has already been living with them for a year or more? So they gave that child 6 months and then decided to replace his dad? This is so wrong. His mom is being selfish too. She needs to find a better way to grieve than being with someone that reminds her of sean and putting her boy through such horrible times

0:40 & 28:17 - The second lady clearly states she has ME and Fibromyalgia! Not MS (Multiple Schlerosis)! Please correct the references to MS in the titles. ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) also known as CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) - or simply ME/CFS - is a similarly debilitating disease, affecting more people, but massively under-funded and under-researched compared to MS. Patients also suffer from more stigma, and have more difficulty getting appropriate medical care and domestic support due to the lack of accurate and up-to-date professional education. More information from The Open Medicine Foundation, MEAction, SolveME, or your local, state or national patient support group.

You never, ever bring a new man into the family after a divorce or any tragic event. He doesn’t walk through the front door, and the kids shouldn’t even know who he is. THE KIDS COME FIRST! If you want to see him, get a baby sitter and go out to dinner, but you never bring in a “replacement parent”.

Stages of grief.... Poor kid going through these stages and feeling so lost. Denial, aggression, self blaming, bargaining,, withdrawal... The stages ever grieving person goes through... And for a child who does not understand doubly difficult. And so son you bring another man into his life.. Not even giving yourself a chance to grieve and to support your son

It's weird she has tried to replace her sons father with someone who is just like him. I understand from a comfort aspect why she picked dean but it's very selfish. Her son had no time to grieve without his mother bringing dean into the home. I don't blame her son for not respecting his mum when she only thinks about herself. I don't think the relationship will work either and her son should of been given alot longer than 6 months to grieve without her starting any relationship.

God forbid anything happens to my husband no one on this planet could replace him. Not for looks money nothing. May be they had affair already maybe Sean found out,such a young person to go suddenly and then to expect the kid to accept this man as his dad. Which world is she living it. Six months I would have understood maybe few years down the line. I think it’s a insult to Sean child and insult to Sean’s memory and his family. That she put her needs before anything.
