Hey Munchy, thank you for another great tutorial !!! One of the optional steps of the Magisk installation steps says: (Optional) If your device has a separate vbmeta partition, you can patch the vbmeta partition with command: fastboot flash vbmeta --disable-verity --disable-verification vbmeta.img What is the vbmeta partition it's referring to there? I didn't do that step, and I don't know from where I was supposed to get vbmeta.img. I am a bit confused regarding the 'separate vbmeta partition' the instructions are not clear about this

vbmeta image (if it exists) will be in fastboot rom zip of your device ..

This will backup almost everything (apps, app data, most settings, etc) it however may leave some things out (Taplus settings, XiaoAI/Google Assistant settings and dev options) it is far better than a cloud backup (including Google and Xiaomi). Open Settings -> My Device -> Backup and Restore -> Mobile Device -> Select everything -> Backup (this will take a while, if u use WeChat wipe it's cache if u don't use it don't select "QQ and WeChat" when selecting what to backup) Now we have our backup time to get it to a safe place for the wipe. If u have a TF/micro SD card u can skip the PC steps and just place it on there. Connect ur phone to a PC (be sure to select "data transfer" on ur phone when u plug it in) -> (START HERE FOR MICROSD CARD) open the phone files in a file explorer -> go "internal storage storage->MIUI->Backup->AllBackup" -> copy the folder currently visable to the PC's desktop (or somewhere on the microSD). Now we have a backup of the phone and can unlock the bootloader. After the 7 days has passed, you've unlocked the bootloader, ur phone has been wiped, and you've completed the first-run steps on ur phone we now need to restore the backup. Do the above step in reverse (instead of copying the backup from "internal storage->MIUI->Backup->AllBackup" copy it from the desktop/microSD card to "internal storage->MIUI->Backup->AllBackup") Home stretch. Now we just need to restore it on the phone. Open Settings -> My Device -> Backup and Restore -> Mobile Device -> Restore (at the top) -> select everything -> Restore Congratulations! You've now unlocked the bootloader with only little loss to some minor settings. Another tip, if some apps fail to load simply uninstall then reinstall them. Hope this helped! If u have questions or want something clarified, just shoot me a reply. Edit: Corrected grammer and added better localization

Basically, extract your rom zip, get the ap file and patch it using magisk manager. Transfer the ap file to your pc (along with all other files that are part of the rom zip) , use Odin on your pc and flash the files normally, just make sure you flash the AP file that you patched with magisk.
