Hi. In this video, I tried to demonstrate two very useful, cheap and simple "Circular Saw Guides" constructions. One of the guides I made using laminate parquet boards and aluminum lath is 120cm and the other is 240cm long. When using this guide, you don't have to attach any parts to your circular saw. You make the adjustment, place the saw on the tray and you can cut.
You can access the 3D plan drawn in exact dimensions from the link I gave below. If you have any questions, be sure to write them in the comments section and I'll try to answer them. Other videos on my channel will also interest you, don't forget to watch.
If you liked the video, don't forget to press the "Like" button, "Subscribe" to my channel and press the "Bell" notification to be notified of my other videos.

Thank you very much for these videos on rip cut and cross cut for circular saw. I was thinking of buying a circular saw to make boxes and other things. But I was scared of how hard it would be to do straight cuts at 90 degrees. You solved a big problem for me. I will make a video with your plans and link you in it, in 1~2 months. If I have any questions, I will post them here. I'll make something similar for my router as well for a planing sled to make the top surface flat.

Hello there. First of all, thank you for your interest. The reason why I made these tools was the need for straight cutting. This was a really important and big problem. One tool I made became a cutting bench for another. I've made my workshop quite a tool holder. My goal is not just to make tools. Then I'm thinking of making some items for my house using these tools. Please keep following me and don't forget to activate the bell notifications.

Great design, good job! One suggestion...instead of sandpaper, try using the foam rubber mat that you get for the bottom of toolbox drawers, it tends to grip a lot better and doesn't leave sandpaper marks on your wood finish :)

Unless you use the tracks for constructional lumber where looks aren't that important, skip the ø25 notches. Every time you reach a notch, you will get tear-out on the upper side. The edge itself acts as both as an anti-splinter guard and a reference, just put the edge on the line. Make sure your blade is square to the sole *before* plunge-cutting the runner and trimming the rail edge. ;) And make sure your square is actually square when making the runner, as the saw blade needs to be 100% parallel to the guide rail to avoid pinching the blade. I bought one of those small 85mm Worx saws some years back, and ran it against a guide edge. The blade was 't even fully int the workpiece when the blade started to pinch, and the blade warped. Turnex out that the sole was twisted a bit compared to the blade, so the blade entered at a slight angle. There were no way of adjusting it other than brute force, so I stopped using it and bought a 12V Bosch instead. The bosch doesn't cut as deep, but I have a proper circular saw for that (Bosch GKS 18V-Li including OEM tracks).
2 жыл бұрын
Everything you wrote is absolutely correct. It's like an instruction manual for a circular saw manual. Only 25mm notches don't splinter that much. Of course, you can say that if the knife is too old. However, since the sandpaper attached to the bottom also makes some height, even if there is no notch, the event you say may occur. But I didn't experience any discomfort. Thank you for your interest and I hope you continue to follow me.

Wouldn't a lip on the front that barely fits over the front be good just to help hold the saw in place be better? And it seems like the half holes should be on the outside (non sawing) facefor clamping. I guess we can modify it as we please. Nice build

@ I never thought about seeing the line. Great idea. As for the lip, at the front end of your sled or tray (can't remember what you called it) where you are moving forward cutting, putting a top or lip, something, putting a piece of wood on the top to lock the shoe/base into the tray. Hope that makes better sense

Hello I looked at many similar projects, but I liked yours the most. There is something I don't understand. Why do you make 25mm holes where the disc moves? What is their purpose and will there be a problem if they are not there?
Жыл бұрын
Hello. Firstly, thank you. 25mm holes were made to easily see the dimension line drawn on the part to be cut. even if it doesn't. but they work

This is the best DIY track saw. Brilliant idea to use laminate. One question though, how do you get it to slide so easily?
Жыл бұрын
Firstly, thank you. I didn't do anything extra for it to slide easily. So I didn't take anything. Actually, that's why I used laminate flooring. So easy sliding. Thanks to the coating, it glides very well.

I did a very similar one but with just the laminate planks screwed together and no track or a sled. Seems to work well enough when I just keep pressure on the guide rail. Need to do some kind of rubberized underside too.

The sandpaper on the bottom works very well. There is no need to cover it completely... thank you for your interest.

@ Yeah I was thinking of grip tape with similar texture to sandpaper but sometimes I need to cut things like kitchen cabinet doors so I need something that wont scratch the surface.
3 ай бұрын
You're right about that. Sanding can be harmful to coated covers. In this case, materials such as rubber are better.

Would be great when coupled with a router.
Жыл бұрын
It would be really good actually. However, this was the first tool I made and I did not own a router. First I made this tool, then a cutting table, then a jigsaw bench, then a table saw... So all I had was a circular saw and a jigsaw. I made other tools using each one.

Bonjour. Tout d'abord, merci. Si je comprends bien, vous posez des questions sur les trous semi-circulaires. Ces trous sont réalisés pour voir facilement la ligne de mesure tracée sur la pièce à découper.

The idea is perfect, maybe a little bit to perfect as i think of. You can skip the holes, the aluminum and the jig the saw is placed in. This is a bit overcomplicated and there is no reason to have these items. I love the idea of the laminated floor boards they are nice and thin and bendable. So get a piece of the wide lamina, glue and tack and screw another smaller piece of lamina say 3 cm (1 1/2 inches) wide and place this piece in length on the first piece by keeping the ends together. Take your circle saw and guide it to the smaller piece cutting the wider piece under it. that's it, the wider piece is now your measurement for further cuts. thanks for sharing

Hello. Thank you for your interest. I chose this method because I did not want to attach or screw any attachments to the saw. I also love using laminate flooring. I have used it in many projects. I wish you a good day

Thanks, another excellent project! I live in a very humid climate - what are you using to seal the "end grain" of the MDF? You use a lot of it, so you have probably found a good solution. Thanks again for your videos
Жыл бұрын
Hello. I thank you too. Honestly, where I live is pretty low humidity. However, I do not think that MDF plates will be damaged unless exposed to water for a long time. I do not prefer to use MDF boards in case of vertical screw throwing or in places that will carry loads. You must have seen in my videos, for example, if there is a piece in which I will see a nut, I use plywood or hornbeam. I have been using the products I have made for a long time and believe me, I have never had a miter break.

I would just take a rail bar screw on the wood board, then you can centralize the saw in the middle.

Hello. I think I use it more comfortably this way. I thought of a few methods. This seemed to be the most useful.
@City-Hiker
@City-Hiker Ай бұрын
I know. I thought I would use this way before, but I don’t have work bench, so I bought 2 wood strips and screw 4 T track screw on the side of strips, so I can insert the saw into the rail and hang up the saw guide track.

Would it slide more easily if the boards were used upside down? Most laminate flooring has a texture to the display side and a very smooth underside. I am going to make a guide like yours so will try out using the boards upside down.
2 жыл бұрын
Hello. I think just do it the way I use it. The coating of the upper section is stronger and more slippery. You can test this by sliding two plates over each other.
