As a Corrections Officer, I think calling us "Zookeepers" is a simplification of our profession. However, it also describes the fundamental aspect of what it is that we do. Can't speak for all C.O.'s but if we're doing our jobs properly, it requires a huge amount of observation, decision-making, and attention to detail while also being prepared to immediately respond to certain situations with physical violence. It's a very strange profession, to say the least.
