Most spas are owned by Asians and have Asian employees. Yet, in Dallas, a black guy slashes a white man and his two year old daughter and no one even knows. Please show me an example where a white person has been deemed as misunderstood by people. I hope this guy gets what he deserves and if I was on the jury I would push for life imprisonment or death penalty, not aware of the state laws for death penalty. However, I don’t think anyone is feeling sympathy for this guy, or for any other white guy who commits mass murder, but their is a lot of drawn attention from blacks specifically who commit murder, especially within Chicago where the black-on-black shootings are 17 a day, Texas where blacks significantly commit higher crimes than all other races, mostly against whites, and in gangs and please don’t say this is racist, I honestly want to hear a counter argument and find some common ground. However, I think what your implying is that white people tend to be victimized or play victim when in reality evidence seems to point to black people playing the most as victim whether they intend to or not.

He could have been targeting SPA that happen to have Asian employees. For now we can just speculate, the investigation will shed light on this.

While i have watched the disgusting rise in hatred against the Asian community over the past year, i suspect that this is more about the crisis in the mental health community. I do no think people realize how little care is being offered and given. And the care that many insurance policies do pay for is not always that good because the reimbursement rate is extremely low. Thus, the providers are often less educated (having a MA or MS instead of a doctorate) and sometimes just less proficient then independent practitioners which insurance will not pay for. i have no problem labelling a hate crime when I see, but I think there is an equally ugly issue at play here.

There’s a very good chance this was absolutely not racially driven and perhaps he did have “services” and was not satisfied with the “service” or couldn’t finish his services and was humiliated!! The shooter was targeting massage parlors. He was being treated for a sexual addiction and said that he wanted to get rid of the "temptation".

The main reason I posted is because there are many people saying this is "obviously" a hate crime against Asians, and normally I would agree, because it happens frequently. But only 6 of the 9 shooting victims were Asians (people keep saying 6 out of 8, but he shot 9 people, it's just that one of the severely injured victims didn't die). The shooter expressly told authorities race had nothing to do with it, that he was receiving treatment for sexual addiction, and he was specifically targeting massage parlors to "remove the temptation". He was also headed for massage parlors in northern Florida when authorities caught him and may not have known the ethnicity of the people working there before deciding that. It's possible it was a hate crime against Asians, but maybe not. It might be a hate crime against women, if he was blaming sexual "temptation". It's possible he was telling the truth when he said race had nothing to do with it. People say he was hyper-religious, so maybe it was one of the, "God told me to do it," crimes that we hear about from time-to-time from people who are mentally ill. Authorities have to find out as much as they can. You can't give the right treatment to a person unless you figure out what's actually wrong with them, and it's hard to effectively process someone through the court system and get justice for the families if you can't figure out their motives. Hate crime charges are different from other kinds of charges.
