Murder In Saskatoon: The Chilling Case Of Brittney Gargol

Truly Criminal

In March 2015, a man walking near a landfill on the outskirts of Saskatoon, Canada found a teenage girl lying dead on the ground. She had marks around her neck, her watch was smashed, her shoes were missing and her jacket had blood on it. It was clearly a violent death.
It would take 2 years to solve the case, and little did officers realise, the biggest clue would staring them in the face the entire time...

In Canada, if the offender experienced poor parenting and the state had anything to do with it (welfare, child & family services, residential school, etc), they will receive a remarkably lighter sentence. There are exceptions. For example, a conviction for First Degree Murder is 25 years incarceration, no matter how you were raised.

The fact that she lied to the police multiple times and asked her uncle to cover for her speaks volumes! The murder was intentional and she remembers!! Court should have let her go to trial for 2nd degree murder! 7 years is way too lenient…but it is Canada, so life probably would have been 10-12 years.

This isn't about Canada. Canada is pretty tough when it comes to sentencing. You're just a sheep that bought the bloodthirsty "tough on crime" right wing bs all the while the real reason for long sentences is so you're corporate overlords can have a steady supply of legalized slaves to make products for them. I wish this were a conspiracy theory. No this is widely accepted because the base that likes it also thinks this will never happen to them. Ive worked in child protection for years and have seen kids go through worse than this and come out the other side as decent human beings. She only pled to manslaughter because she knew she'd be found guilty of 2nd degree murder and i dont believe she doesnt remember she remebers enough to get her 7 years instead of life! My grandma went to residential school and my grandpa was hidden in the woods when the priests and officers came to get him and his siblings. Some of them were found but he wasn’t. My grandma suffered through abuse and my grandpa suffered through the trauma of having his siblings taken and watching his parents drink themselves to death because they were sad and missed their children. Their kids struggled with alcoholism and abuse as kids through their teens to adult hood. They still struggle. Then there’s me. The first grandchild. I suffered through trauma because of my family’s unresolved trauma. It hurts and it feels like I’ve been thrown in a deep dark hole with the rest of my family and I can’t get out. It’s depressing realizing your reality of wanting to break that generational cycle that came from residential school but I would NEVER EVER MURDER ANYBODY !!!! Sounds like you guys need to do a better job of voting. Or you'd think someone would have an easy chance of winning if they ran on a platform of criminal justice reform. Because the murder sentences I see from Canada are a joke. What do you give for rape and child molestation? Probation?

Cases like these are always hard to listen to. I feel so sorry for the victims of crimes like this when they are the victim of a person they cared so much for and trusted and loved. They leave this world knowing that the person they loved is the one who is taking their life that is so sad. Thank you for giving a voice to all these victims again reminding us of who they were and what their life was before they became a victim and that they were a loving family member not just a victim. If she was able to tell the other friend about she had just done, drunk or not, then retell it to police a second time…. AND go out of her way to make up, not one, but 2 different stories, ask her uncle to lie about her alibi…then she DEFINITELY remembers what she did. She did not blackout. A blackout is when the person cannot remember anything. She murdered her friend. Maybe in the heat of the moment so yes, it wasn’t planned… BUT she then went out of her way to try and cover it up. 7 years isn’t long enough. Not even close. Let’s not forget that she wasn’t even arrested for 2 years while she sent the cops on a wild goose chase… this is so sad.

She shouldn’t have gotten to plead guilty to manslaughter. She says she doesn’t remember but if she knew to make up a story then she knew. 7 years isn’t near enough time. Her having a hard childhood doesn’t give an excuse to let her off with manslaughter. Lots of people have had traumatic childhoods & they haven’t killed their best friend

First degree murder is premeditated; as in thought out and planned. This was a tragedy. I had met these two. These two young women should've never been at either of these places partying. Are there no lady detectives on the case/force?? A lady would have recognized that as a woman’s belt and noticed the outfit on social media. Did they not test the belt for prints or DNA from the beginning? Not finding male DNA or prints might’ve been a huge tipoff that “bestie” was LYING. Did they not dig deeper into why the best friend had the dead girls phone?

Dear people, if you're trying to help a person with so much trauma please don't go partying, drinking and doing drugs. Always try to bring the person to step up levels that will help the person stay clean and stabilize their mental health. Instead of getting intoxicated with them, take them to church, or a psychologist. Take them to enjoy nature, encourage them to do better.

That can be a tough one... I know lots of killers claim they were intoxicated when they did the crime and have no memory of what happened, which is awfully convenient. However, anyone who has ever blacked out after drinking can tell you it DOES happen. Luckily I never came out of a blackout to find I murdered someone, but it's scary not being able to remember what happened during that period. Drink responsibly, people!
@rilessmiles6590
@rilessmiles6590 6 ай бұрын
This is accurate. I see a lot of comments saying there's no way she doesn't remember. But anyone who has ever been blackout drunk can definitely attest to it being possible. I don't drink anymore at ALL because one drink was never enough and it would turn into bottle after bottle. I'm also lucky I never sobered up to being a murderer, I think ANYONE is capable of murder (given the perfect storm to set an individual off), whether they want to admit it or not... most of us can control ourselves though, we can stay morally sound, and understand actions have consequences, alcohol does nothing to help that since it removes a lot of rational judgment from an individual. There's a reason Dahmer was drunk for most of his crimes. Alcohol lowers inhibitions, it exaggerates feelings, and while sober we can rationalize and make better decisions than we can inebriated. That being said: I believe in an eye for an eye and Cheyenne should be locked up for life since she took a life; whether or not she remembers the crime.
