It’s across the military. I was assaulted 4 different times by 4 different service members while I was in the Marine Corps and I requested to leave my unit (2 of them were in my unit) and my CO looks me dead in the eyes and says “im not giving you a vacation of an enlistment; you can go down the road” and my therapist goes “why don’t you just get over it” then they tried to kick me out for Failure to Adapt which would ruin me because it’s an administrative separation and therefore not an honorable discharge

It's very very bad up there at Fort Hood. I lived there for 10+ years- just a few years ago there was a prostitution ring sting that took down a LOT of military higher ups who were involved. It's disgusting, actually.

I was in the same battalion as her (Regimental Engineer Squadron in 3CR) and the whole ordeal is a big reason why I decided to get out. I was out there in the field searching for her the day it was reported she went missing, and I'll tell you now, there was a SFC about 3 or 4 days into the search telling us we need to start looking for a body instead of signs of life. I can't even describe the smell down in the arms rooms. They knew it was Robinson the whole time, and CID dropped the ball big time. Nobody can convince me otherwise. Also, Robinson was a huge POS who shouldn't have been in the military to begin with, much less an armorer. I didn't know Vanessa too well, but I remember her as always smiling before we went to NTC in October 2019. After that, she always looked sad or at the very least unhappy. It's extremely sad that she won't get the full justice she deserves. And no, Fort Hood, your overcorrection of "Operation People First" is not working in practice at all; it did for about 2 weeks then things went back to normal.

Damn bro. I remember always seeing NCOs practically praying on drunk lower enlisted females at company/barracks parties. Female, male whatever you should be able to trust the person wearing the same uniform as you to watch your back. This incident left a sick taste in mouth for the army and made me rethink about my time in because I was IAR when this happened. Protect the people you serve with folks.

I was stationed at Hood 06 to 09 and this place was beyond wild, we had soldiers murdered in Killeen, drugs, domestic abuse, awols, suicides, rapes, and abuse of power just to name a few. The public doesn't know what we had to deal with because the Army and all other branches police themselves. We once had to search for a missing young sergeant from Wednesday to Saturday on a land navigation course only to find him 300 meters from our rally point, to this day I honestly believe he was murdered and his body was dumped.

I was in the Navy for six years. It destroyed my mental health and my body. During my first three years, stationed on a ship, we had a suicide once a year, and I remember vividly when a guy attempted by leaping over the side. My dear friend got sexually assaulted, and people told her not to “ruin his career” over “a mistake.” My friend in the marines was sexually assaulted at least three times as well. Everyone is sleep deprived, sometimes to the point where they fall asleep standing up WHILE STEERING THE SHIP. Sleep deprivation is a form of torture, yet so common that everyone just shrugs and says “yeah, I’m tired too. It sucks.” But leadership does nothing. The next three years I was ashore the depression and hopelessness was so bad I was sobbing my eyes out every day after work. I am out, but not without scars. I’m disabled and traumatized, and unfortunately, none of this story surprises me. I wish people would be more open about what it’s really like, and how rampant both sexual assault and misconduct is. Did you know that an officer can just dismiss sexual assault allegations? They can just decide to end the investigation. It’s no wonder that people don’t report.

the us military has never given a shit about its veterans or its families. i'm staunchly anti military/war/imperialism, but i also grew up as a military brat, and saw how little they cared for my sick father while my mom and i watched him waste away from agent orange induced diseases. couldn't help us because "he never had boots on the ground", they said. took the better part of a decade for them to finally give us what we deserved, but only well after he had passed. it disgusts me the methods they take to recruit people, promising good pay and scholarships and an escape from student debt. it's so appetizing to so many that it's hard to see the real motives behind their offers, which is just to get more fodder for more forever wars and more money to expand our already ridiculous weapons arsenal. don't fall for it.

@@kkittycatkat1990 I'm highly disappointed too. I'm glad to have read another comment like this because I feel the same. This is all around disappointing to hear and our soldiers deserve better than this. I was also saddened to hear that women get treated so poorly. Even tho I do realize some men may not be the biggest supporters of women in military or in combat or whatever, I would expect ALL men in the military to be decent men who don't sexually assault or harass women or worse. That was honestly disappointing to hear. I'm personally someone who leans more conservatively and have great respect and support for troops however this made me very sad to hear. I do know this isn't all men in the military so I keep that in mind too. I just wish it was more seriously frowned upon within the military. But this nonsense about soldiers not getting medical proper care, not getting time off for death in family, not being respected is absolutely ridiculous and should never happen. Especially hearing about these men that put their lives on the line for our country, then when they struggle and need help, the military abandons them. Such a shame and a great disappointment to hear as an American honestly.

Having been stationed there for 8 months I didn’t know this girl but I knew of her, I can tell you that it’s not surprising at all she was sexually harassed by higher ranking officials, I’ve seen things in that place that you’d only imagine could happen. Sexual harassment is pretty much a normal thing in that base, Almost encouraged by higher ranking officials even suicide is pretty common place as well as depression, I had a home girl who was super excited when she first arrived and not even a month later she would ask me to walk with her to her post as she felt uncomfortable by some of the people she was around, and after 6 months they were carrying her in a body bag after she was sexually assaulted by an officer and she ended her own life. What makes things worse they never revealed the officers name or rank they simply transferred him to another station because apparently “it would bring down our military integrity to out a fellow service man.” So I got out and my lil sister wanted to join but I made sure to tell her otherwise.

Wait a mf’in minute...! So a psychiatrist in charge of treating mental health on base committed suicide. Then, a ranked official put in charge of reducing the rate of sex harassment and assault took advantage of vulnerable female soldiers while running a prostitution ring. Ugh exactly. So many times the people in charge of protecting others end up being guilty of the things that "claim" to be against. Can't even explain all the cases ex: where the police officer responsible for taking Josh duggar's sexual assault of his sisters... ended up being busted for CP and then years later he was also busted for CP. So many judges that are responsible for convicted sex crimes end up being in charge of prostitution or child sex rings. That's why I'm skeptical of everyone honestly. You never know. Hurts my heart that victims come forward thinking they might do something and then end up being the very people who offend those crimes.

And we see that exact same pattern all over America and not just on Army bases, so the military has nothing to do with these stories. That interview hit home! I was in the military as well around this time and a lot of what she talked about brought back memories of how stigmatized mental health was. You couldn’t talk to anyone about how you felt or if you feel suicidal because no one really gave a rats a$$. They may give you some lame “counseling” because that’s what they’re supposed to do but never actually tried to get to the root cause. It wasn’t until I got out and went to a mental health counselor at the VA where I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and put on proper medication. So many suicides happened that got swept under the rug it’s so sad. I loved the military but at the same time has a lot of kinks to work out!

Our unit had back to back suicides and a few DUI related fatalities in the same month. Unfortunately this was a regular thing in our unit and I can tell you if you did attempt to get mental health help, you were labeled as a bad soldier and you can kiss your career goodbye. Leadership only cares about themselves and their own people and 9/10 times you aren't anything but a moving piece in their careers. The corruption and blatant negligence is obvious to anyone who has ever served, especially in Infantry Commands. The army does not care about you and only considers you a number on a roster. The investigating bodies within the military are very likely to brush incidents under the rug or lead to nothing unfortunately. God bless you guys and stay safe.

This has been happening for so long...my mother was enlisted in the late 70's/early 80's and was sexually assaulted multiple times by her commander and forced to keep her mouth shut by threats. Eventually she and three other women reported him and they were tormented. My mom was endlessly harassed in the barracks and was beat up multiple times. She told me once that while she was walking back to the barracks a group of people threw a blanket over her and started beating the fuck out of her...needless to say she suffered horrible PTSD during menopause when because she was terrified that her commander would find her for speaking out about it. She's an entirely different woman than the person she was when I was a kid now. I hope the fucker that did that to my mom and the pieces of burning shit that did this to Vanessa rot in hell.

Ive been stationed at Fort Hood for 4 years now. I was there the year that Vanessa and many other soldiers started disappearing. This place, these people, their laws and the way they operate is on a whole different level than anyone can imagine. It’s tough to portray exactly how bad it is inside Fort Hood without you being able to see it first hand. I’ve seen some pretty bad people here, people who have too much power and are able to affect your career no questions asked unless you do exactly what they demand. I feel so very sorry for Vanessa’s family, but I am very glad that they didn’t just accept the armys usual answer of “they went awol”. They went above and beyond, even got the president involved and got Fort Hood under the light! It’s too bad that things are going back to the way they were before

Greg. He's been in local news since right after he vanished which was Aug 19 of 2019. He was found during the time everyone was searching for Vanessa yes but he was found in the Florence Rd field after the anonymous tip was called in to Ft Hood CID telling them that location. It's often over 200 soldiers that get declared AWOL in a given year and the majority aren't in the media once. There's been publicity for Greg I know some of the Guillen family talks to Mama Kim Wedel still. It's been over 160 non combat deaths of Ft Hood soldiers we've closely tracked from Jan 2016 to the present, it's certainly a greater issue than the majority of the public knows I agree that needs to change. I said it's been 160+ non combat deaths for Ft Hood soldiers I've tracked just since 2016, so by comparison we lost about 70 Ft Hood soldiers in COMBAT deaths in Afghanistan at the seventeen years anniversary of the start of the war there.

Newsflash: the American military is so gargantuan that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. The bureaucracy, the secrecy and invulnerability of the higher ups, the incompetency at all levels, the low social status of the common rank and file... It's a perfect storm of every American cultural problem rolled into a small footprint. Joining the US military is one rung up from going to jail and being a career criminal. The enlisted ranks are filled with low-IQ sociopaths, the junior officers are fresh-faced, young, recent graduates with zero wisdom or life experience (let alone any life experience that matches their subordinates), and the brass is a jaded group of cover-up artists who only care about protecting their own careers. The US military is a government onto itself, filled with incompetence, large institutional waste and ineffeciency that is mostly concerned with adhering to the framework of rules that do not fit any nuanced situation. It's a large ship with too many captains -- it cannot be steered to make nimble maneuvers with finesse and grace however it's quite good at rolling over docks and then surveying the damage as it floats on by leaving a nice trail of debris that eventually fades into the horizon.

I was stationed in FH for 3 years. When your leadership is good, it makes you feel secure and that they actually care. But when they rotate out completely new leadership, which they do to stop the chances of well established inappropriate relationships from forming, that creates the chances of getting awful leadership, which is what made me not re-up and I felt like I had to get the heck out of there. There are people in positions of power who do not belong there, ranging from sheer incompetence, to people who genuinely don't care about the men and women they are in charge of. I was stationed at Ft Hood at the hospital during the massacre. It was horrible. The base culture was horrible. It was called The Suck, The Blackhole, and Where your career goes to die. I had some medical issues, a cancer scare, and I went to a couple of Dr appts. My NCO would always ask me when could she expect me to pay the army back its time. I remember my husband and I going back to Ft Hood in 2015. In 2016, this family was looking for their son, and the Army kept saying he went awol. They found his car "abandoned" off the side of the road by the ranges. The base command swore up and down they searched for him. What ended up happening was he wrecked his car and was ejected. Some soldiers completing Land Nav found his body. RIP Pvt Stump. Thank you for your in-depth analysis and the respect you display. I worked in the morgue a lot of days at the old hospital. It truly goes so much further.

My family's farm is on that stretch by the ranges. Someone crashed their truck into my mom's field and she got mad at me for asking if the driver was alright... There was never any sign of them and it's a looong walk to Killeen or Gatesville. She ended up getting her law enforcement "buddy" to tow it off, I really hope this wasn't the same incident. My cousin came home from the military when I was 16 and the first thing he did was sit me down and told me if I every tried to join the military, he would kill himself knowing what nearly all of the female soldiers he knew went through. He said he personally beat at least 3 rapists in the 5 years he was in the army and it would break him if he knew I was to one day be one of those women he knew. I had no interest in joining the military anyway but as I got older, he told me some of the things he saw and it makes me so disgusted by our military. They make adds making the army seem like a video game, yet won't even pay their soldiers a living wage and allow known rapists to continue to serve.

I’m a 13.5 year veteran from Philadelphia, PA. I served at many Army bases to include a few overseas assignments. Fort Hood, TX is by far my favorite duty station. I currently live here again due to my husband being a soldier. I and many other lady prior soldiers don’t ever want to leave this area. I’m so sorry about what happened to Vanessa Guillen! That was lack of leadership! Her leadership failed her. This could have been prevented. To include many of the other Soldiers that came up missing and dead, their leadership failed them as well. All of these cases talked about in this video their leadership ignored the signs and didn’t take action. I seriously had to babysit grown adults when I was in, but you do what you have to do to keep one another safe. The prostitution reigns, their leadership held most of those Soldiers above the law and that could have been prevented. I went to mental health only because I just needed to vent about two of my bosses without it getting back to them so I talked to unbiased mental health doctors… and I was not treated different 🙄🙄🙄… I’m not saying that any of this wasn’t going on, but this is happening all over the country and people need to be held accountable, but just don’t blame Fort Hood🙄🙄🙄. Again, I’ve been stationed alot of duty stations. I have more to say, but I’ll leave it here. And please DON’T listen or watch CNN!!!!🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

Poor Vanessa. I was in the Navy, and when I thought my life was falling apart I took orders back to Texas to be closer to my family. It was the worst mistake of my life. No amount of being a two-hour drive away from family was worth the hell I went thru at NAS Corpus Christi. I could go into it, but I won't; not here. If I could go back in time and do it over, I would in a minute. Vanessa would have been better off being stationed anywhere else in the world but Ft. Hood. May God rest her soul.

PTSD really does change you. If not your behaviour, your thoughts. Though in my experience it changes everything. Behaviour, thoughts, emotions, physical health, resting BPM, energy levels, reflexes… that’s just off the top of my head. Left untreated it never gets better, and in many cases, it only gets worse. Mental illness ALWAYS has some level of physiological ramifications. If physical health is of any value to them, mental health should be equally prioritized. Like a leg fracture, you can’t “suck it up.” If you think you can, you’ve never been mentally ill. Leaving a leg fracture untreated, sure, it could fix itself. But not without a mangled bone and physical deformity/disability. The same logic applies to mental health.

@@skycloud4802 It really depends on where you end up, I ended up in the navy at 19 when I felt like I had no direction. I certainly did not love my time there however the base I was at around the same time as this case, didn't have anything near this sort of reputation. While I'm sure there were sexual assaults and cover ups, the people stationed there never would have made statements like the woman in the car did. It's definitely not for everyone and obviously not every duty station is going to be run as well as others but it is still a fair option for those without direction/ want college paid for.

This story has NOTHING to do with the military. It just so happens that this one particular case was a female soldier murdered by a male soldier, and that's all this channel wants you to focus on, the fact that they were soldiers. The "sex trafficking ring" was just a BLACK pimp exploiting vulnerable women into becoming his prostitutes, and then a BLACK man murdering a woman. This is exactly what non-military America is like, where most pimps are black men and most murderers are black men. War, PTSD, and the Army in general, is completely irrelevant to this case. But this channel tried real hard to make everybody believe that the treatment of soldiers is the common denominator. And sadly it worked, because you're all afraid to pattern-recognize and identify the real problem, whether on military bases or off of them.

Vanessa's family sounds amazing. I feel horrible for them. They did everything they could to find her and continued to kick up a fuss, understandably. No one deserves to be sexually assaulted or harassed. Vanessa was punished for speaking up. The fact that men and women in the military are being murdered by superiors is so sickening. I've never heard anything good from any of my friends who served at Ft. Hood. When i was stationed in Germany we had a soldier who was in charge of our entire armory, the distribution and collection of all our weapons and he had been deployed 3 times, he was just a really good soldier. He got transferred to FT. Hood and within 6 months he mysteriously died in MP custody while in jail. It truly is a black hole no matter how good of a soldier you are anywhere else.

Been stationed at fort hood twice, also my dad was stationed here when I was a teen. Killeen is a terrible little town that surrounds a terrible base. Everything everyone says about Ft Hood is true. I also worked law enforcement in that town and it’s ridiculous how close everyone who lives there is to danger daily. The US Army is toxic af! Some bases are better, yes. However the army is a very toxic in general. I also lived here during the Vanessa Guillen case first started. My grandma and I would go to a little Mexican restaurant on Ft hood street and we would often run into Vanessa there. We all connected because we were all Latina women away from our homes. I’m originally from San Antonio and Vanessa from Houston. It was shocking to see her picture on the news. I remember my grandma calling me immediately to inform me. I was pcsing when Aaron shot him self…we heard the gun shot and police sirens from out hotel room that night. I was eager to leave that town.

I have been in the Marine Corps for 20 years, and would be the first to admin that the Military/Gov is completely inept. However the one time I had a missing Marine (he went UA, drove back home), the base was locked down within an hour and everyone, EVERYONE got online and searched for him. It wasn't until a few hours later when we were able to get in touch with his mother that she admitted he was home. Same thing with a loss of serialized gear, like a pistol....base locked down, everyone gets online and looks. At the very least, anyone involved or anyone who knows something will eventually crack and start talking.

I sometimes wonder if the Marine Corps has a different brotherhood than all other military branches. I mean no disrespect to anyone, I say this because my brother was a marine. And when he passed away from a drug overdose 15 years after he was out of the military, four of his Marine buddies drove three states just to come to his funeral. They had not spoken to him in years or even knew what was going on or how he passed. They seen it on Facebook and wanted to pay their respects. I found it fascinating that they all had not kept in touch either Until this and decided to come together. I was so honored and so touched by that. These men will never know how much that helped me that day.

@@LoveLunaFam I have, unfortunately, experienced similar things with current and former Marines. The best Marine I know is an amazing, selfless, hero of a soldier - literally a representation of our best and brightest. The worst Marine I know (well, knew - we've long since parted ways) was a selfish, mean-spirited braggart who lived to make other people feel weak. I don't blame the Marine Corps itself, but then.... the Corps itself has to share *some* blame. I know it's impossible to weed out soldiers who might be problematic, but I feel like they could at least do a little more. I think the problem is just consistency. The OP talked about how professional and on top of things his base and soldiers were, and I believe him. I've seen those types of bases myself. But it's clear that these types of military institutions are far from the norm.

@@LoveLunaFam No, I thik you're onto something. I grew up a military brat, and though I've never served, some of my most valued friends and family have enlisted. There is absolutely a personality type that thrives in the military - it channels energy into a sense of structure that really seems to make a difference in some soldiers' lives. But I think there are some personality types that get twisted by that structure, too. It's a very insular organization, our military, and there is no way a few centuries worth of war and combat and militarization haven't negatively impacted the soldiers who serve in it. We all know how difficult it can be for our enlistees to even see their own PTSD as the mental affliction it is - maybe (some) soldiers have been conditioned to rely upon their comrades and command structure *only* and this can create its own kind of stagnant rot. (Perhaps similar to the way law enforcement officers close ranks to protect each other in times of conflict, even if the officers themselves are the problem)

This is very true about Ft Hood, it is a black hole. My son was stationed there and he was scheduled to have a major surgery on his eye. If his parents were not prior military and came to his aid there would have been no one there to check on his care. We drove from Mississippi to Ft Hood Tx then took him to Austin, Tx for the surgery. We were there for a week and no one checked in on him. He was given 10 days leaves to recoup, however, the day we left his platoon leader shows up and tells him he missed PT and getting ready to give him a reprimand he called us his parents and this is when we stepped in and made some phone calls. It was unfortunate this is where we had to go, and the sad part about this, the platoon leader was not aware that my son was even having surgery. This just goes to say there seems to be no attention to detail and the level of care concerning the soldiers seems to be missing at Ft Hood, Tx. Leadership is more concern with other things over people.

This wasn't a story about Ft Hood, as desperate as this channel was to make that the story. This was a story about a murderer, and another story about a pimp. All the irrelevant military stuff is just a distraction so you won't notice any other patterns or make any other connections. So keep focusing on Ft Hood and the military, and not the actual pimp and the actual murderer in this video. Concentrate on the SYSTEM, and don't hold individuals or demographics accountable for anything they do. And DEFINITELY don't notice any patterns or common denominators with pimps and murderers all across America. Nothing to see here. "That damn Ft Hood tho, amirite??" 🤡🙄 But you are right about Ft Hood being a black hole. Emphasis on BLACK.
