The last trailer for Sora took place in the same location as the reveal trailer for the game all those years ago, with Inkling Girl looking at the flaming Smash logo. My quote of "Welcome to Dark Souls, bitch" had become a meme back then, so I figured I'd bring it back for old times sake. Add in the fact that the single flame aesthetic was giving me HUGE Dark Souls vibes before it turned out to be Sora, and that's a recipe for nostalgia.

@@invaderperidot the funny thing is that Disney has had ties to Nintendo since 1959 where they made a deal for Nintendo to distribute Disney merchandise in Japan that included cards that sold very well. This was during the era when Nintendo hadn’t find itself yet and was a card company among other things. Nintendo owes it’s success to Disney for helping them climb to the top, as it allowed them to be publicly listed as an official company. What’s funny is that Nintendo is actually *OLDER* then Disney believe it or not. The only difference is that Disney always stuck to their way of making entertainment, Nintendo shifted their organization up a bit till they became a video game developer, publisher, and console manufacturer. Activision on the other hand, isn’t a very loyal company anymore. They used to be a very small video game developer that worked on games for Atari and then they transitioned into a giant publisher conglomerate that buys out a bunch of other independent studios, harasses their employees, or either shutdown the studios if they aren’t making enough good content or just merge them into a better division just so they can assist their game development on titles such as call of duty which are practically the same game every year. They aren’t a worthy company anymore, even if they had a historical importance in the games industry and now owns two important gaming icons from the ps era. They may have started the toys to life craze which caused amiibo to be created but if I recall correctly, it seems that nobody from Activision or blizzard has been contacted by Nintendo about anything smash related since their current controversies. I don’t think they are going to try working with them again.

I'm thankful Sakurai has gotten his rest from working on Ultimate for so many years, but the excitement of waiting to see what new characters, mii costumes, and content released from each Smash direct is something I'll cherish forever and miss dearly (or until Smash 6 comes out), and your reactions help relive the hype.

EXACTLY! I just said this in another comment, but Smash reveals were an event all their own. It's the only game that I know where it seems like the whole world stops what their doing, they watch/react to the trailer, they walk about on social media all day and they everyone watches reactions on KZbin. I'm SO gonna miss doing these.

I loved how they saved the World of Light reveal with the lyrics when, at that point, we had heard the OST for World of Light so many times. I feel like it wrapped up the main game's production very well.

RogersBase's reaction compilation is actually what inspired me to make this video as my first upload to the gaming channel. Comments of past reveal trailers like that live rent-free in my mind now that Sora's out. Those people were the truest of believers and never gave up hope until the very last trailer and I'm so happy they get Sora!

I never played Kingdom Hearts, so I didnt care much about Sora at first. But watching his reveal makes me tear up nowadays, because bringing the magic of disney to the world of smash was the single most beautiful conclusion for the journey we all went through, feeling excitement and joy for all the characters. Smash Ultimate was really a moment in gaming history, I look back and remember getting a pit in my stomach watching these originally and I feel the same rewatching them today. After all that, the game is in player's hands now. So the journey isnt over, it continues through all of us who continue to play it and experience memories with our friends, loved ones, and other players. I want to thank Nintendo, Masahiro Sakurai and the rest of the smash team, and the third parties that cooperated with Nintendo to bring their characters to life in a whole new world. This span of character reveals and content updates goes down in history as a time where we all shared unmatched joy, excitement, laughter, and more. I'm really thankful for it, and I hope you all continue to enjoy the game and make memories.
