Honeymoon Hoe he's never said he doesn't care about 2D or his band despite all his chaos ridden upon them. I really think ppl should stop crying over 2D if Russ and Noodle don't even "save" him from Murdoc even tho it's proven Russ can smash his nose in. 2D's not helpless and I like their dynamic. The relationship is complicated and I've stated before that I don't see Murdoc being exceptionally abusive, even verbally, this phase. Maybe he's a bit insane but. He doesn't seem malicious, at least. He doesn't thrive from his band's suffering. I don't even think he internally enjoys harassing 2D, honestly. It's more like he's taking his own bottled up emotions and misery negatively on others. It's unhealthy and inconsiderate, yes, but not cruel. Murdoc is chaotic, not evil. Long live pickle.
