Fantastic video,Ed!,i was once allowed to help fire a big display just by chatting to the operators,they knew how interested i was and how much i knew so they let me fire the 4 and 5 inch shells by the old method with a portfire,i know exactly what you mean about the vibrations and noise that close up!,pleased to see they offered you a job so best of luck with it!,look forward to seeing more!

Fan-bloody-tastic, I like the two camera setup. I helped fire the Cambridge display for a few years back in the early 90s. I still remember the black tarry mess left on my hands and clothes after clearing up all the spent pyro. Still, great fun!

@captainuk001 cheers Cap'n :) massively lucky to have go involved, and the show itself was awesome from we were at the firing line. The camera that was in the audience was a bit poor, so i'll get some actual footage of the display in the air from ground zero next time! Yeah, learned loads! although its suprising how much of the knowledge used for our amateur side of things still applied here! good to hear from you buddy hope youre well

It depends on what you are fusing, but for passing fire between uncoated visco fuses, zip ties work better because they press the fuses together more forcefully.

This is so freaking cool. I've always wondered what behind the scenes looked. my stepdad was a firefighter who sometimes stood standby by the launch sites and he said it was basically just tubes like this but I always wondered more

@pyr0ph1L it was an amazing day! took so much away from the whole experience :) yeah, the display itself was fantastic, some really meaty stuff on the firing line, coupled with fact that we were about 15m away from ground zero! every pop and bang resonated through your body....felt like i was out in Afghanistan! :P

That is so cool! How much does it cost to put on a show like this? If I didn't have a license is there anything I could do to to help out at a show someone is putting on? I would enjoy simply operating the switchboard if nothing else. :-) Is getting a license basically like getting a college degree or is it not as intensive? I have wanted to do this kind of stuff for a while.

@petermackett37 cheers Pete, brilliant, theres nothing quite like the satisfaction of knowing that an audience of thousands is watching your every move! although its pitch black, it feels like theres a massive spot light on you! its awesome! haha, yeah, id love to give hand firing a go, im sure the only way to replicate the adrenaline rush from that is to run around in a minefield! thanks mate, much appreciated great to hear from you
@murdoch248613 жыл бұрын
@mondays89 This is a £2000 display, which includes the fireworks themselves, transport, rigging fees etc. Ofcourse you can! All you need to do is contact a firing company, and see if you can come down with them on a display. They will assess whether you are a valuable asset to them, and take it from there. You dont need any qualifications as such to rig, the licensing comes in when you start purchasing and transporting the pyro yourself. remember you dont get if you dont ask! good luck

Is this exactly how the "governmental" fireworks look and work??? I gotta know - never saw one at the launch "pad". Or are those even more serious and are launched from cannons?

@Threatstodebts697 жыл бұрын
Marcus Salinas you can however you are required to hold a proper license and most fireworks of this size are illegal in vast amounts of states for civilian use. Texas and some states like Indiana are exceptions.

Not everyone has a half-million dollar budget for their show. You would expect the smallest shell to be 6-inches...? You do realize that decent 6" shells (like the ones you see in this video) run about $35-$45 PER SHELL, right? By the way, the "smaller shells" that "you can buy easily" are, in fact, cakes. As far as the actual individual shells go, it looks to range from 3" up to 6". No, you cannot "buy those easily."
