Decided to document this slowly unfolding disaster, as it was safe to do so. Hopefully the flood waters are close to peak.

Spectacular is the only word that comes to mind every video I see. Avoca Dell is flooded cutting off the road to the caravan park, Thiele Reserve flooded over the road and playground, Long Island the shacks are inundated and now Swanport levee has broken under the big Bridge to Tailem Bend allowing a huge deluge of water now covering farm land. None of the ski boat ramps can be seen and poles and markers are disappearing under water very fast now. Although we may think this is a disaster, which it is for shack owners and land holders, in essence the wildlife is really enjoying their new found abodes and the land is soaking up the plentiful water for seasons ahead. This is a great video, especially for the locals who can only see from the land but the drone footage really tops off what is simply a spectacular once in a life time event. Stay safe everyone, the current is very strong headed down stream with alot of floating objects meandering past. Keep us updated, greatly appreciated! 👏😎♥️🇦🇺🕊️

An amazing sight from the air. Hard to know how many exceptional weather events will come our way in the years ahead.

If soaking water that all benefits that is very short-sighted- we must store water, build dams, irrigation and pump systems. Isreal had no water, almost no agricultural, now with huge water storage facilities they exports water to others, yet big agricultural flourished. Criminal negligence if we do nothing!

Excellent drone “driving” and commentating. Really appreciated the inclusion of the Google map for comparison. Well done and thank you for recording and sharing this.

Thanks! Hope we don't see events like this more often as the climate becomes less predictable.

@@skybug3 I agree, but……..increasingly it seems humans may have “missed the boat” when it comes to looking after our environment properly, to the point where we now need more boats!

Wow that’s a lot of water, great work documenting the flooded areas. It looked great when you were low on the flooded areas 👍

Sure is! Even more apparent in the next video to come, where the breached levees on either side of the main channel can be seen.

I think so. First experience of somewhere I want to fly and video that could be of general interest. I tend to look for the latest videos on the flooding, so it's a novel experience racing to get content out while it's still topical. 😄

Why type of drone do you use 🎉

I fly customised MJX Bugs 3 drones. They came out about 5 years ago. Took a while to learn to fly as they lack the standard features of dji drones - no return to home or hover in place if you stop controlling position with the joysticks. Has been good for learning to concerntrate, but not recommended today - better off to start with a dji mini. 😀

The amazing thing is that the Murray River catchment area includes much of Qld, a vast area west of the Blue Mountains in NSW and Vic. And; ALL of the water in the vast flooded areas upstream around the Riverland etc has to flow under the narrow Murray Bridge bridges.

It's quite strange watching a disaster in slomo - reminds me of lava flows in recent eruptions.

Bit too far from where I took off. Didn't want to fly too close to lots of people. Had a look at the club on the ground - bit of seepage through the levee, but pumps were still doing a good job that day.

It is ironical that the grass area is all dry since the irrigation is not operating because the power to the pumps is off.
