I don't know if many ppl read my comment about Roman at video of Chengdu; i guess it was after semis vs Muzetti or maybe after the final vs Zverev. I wrote there how promising young Safiulin was. He was a part of "golden" tennis youth of Russia in first half of 10's. Meddy, Karen, Andrey & him. And even more amazing that he was almost on the same lvl, of how everybody saw his feature, with Rublev. Every Russian big tennis related person spoke that those 2 definitely will be at the top 10 and Meddy with Karen somewhere near. And rightly so: Andrey won 2014 junior RG, became nr.1. But then Roman defeated him at the final of Trofeo Bonfiglio Grade A. And in 2015 Roman won juniors AO 2015, becoming world nr.2. Right before, he won 5 features in a row!!! So in all exUSSR media(10 years ago many countries wrote about each others wins, cause the connection was still strong between all 15 countries, especially in sports) everybody wrote that Safiulin will become a star, a top-10 player. So after winning juniors AO 2015, he said that from now on he is totally goes to pro tennis. And then something totally unbelievable happened. Many will say it's fate. Right at the next tournament after AO 2015 Roman withdrew with shoulder injury. I don't remember if he had surgery( i gues he had) but it was the shoulder of his playing hand, and he missed almost whole 2015 season. And after that this "fate" showed that not everything depends on talent. After his return he played at ITF tournaments getting points to enter top-100, but till 2020 every year he had some injuries, not that big as his shoulder but still, every year he always were missing month or two. All that things broke his mentality, especially his self believe! So only at the end of 2019 and beginning 2020 he started to show his real potential....but pandemic hit and his return stopped again, So in 2021 it was the year when he slowly started to gain confidence and at 2022 he started winning big matches getting to some ¼ finals at ATP tournaments. And this year i see that young 18y.o Safiulin that was flying on the court, hitting good winners down the line or cross courts. And by tennis standards he isn't old- 26y.o and still can produce big things! We all remember Stan when he started winning his GSs at 29y.o. So as much as i cheer for 3 musketeers, 3 friends Karen, Meddy, Rublev, as much i want Roman to get to their lvl, to the place he really belongs- at least top-20, and to start winning tournaments! Давай Рома, вспомни молодость! Let's go Roman, time to remember who you were at your youth career!

You are well informed indeed. Roman is somewhat similar in playing style to Aslan Karatsev, only better. I watched him play very well against an in form Sinner at Wimbledon this year. The ball striking was off the charts. I'd put Roman only slightly below Alcaraz, Sinner and Medvedev at the moment. He should win at least 1 ATP title in the next 12 months. Note, I don't make comparisons with Novak. He's on a different level, though we know he can be beaten occasionally.

Think Andy Murray is the one who is not going to accept losing against basically any decent player, he has the hardest time in admitting to himself, that his deep runs in Slams, or winning tournament days are over! His movement is nowhere as good as it used to be, for obvious reasons! His serve is also less of a treat! His forehand is not the greatest, and his backhand lost some steam as well! His whole game is centred around being a counterpuncher! But there is nothing to punch if you're not quick enough and your shots lack raw power! So he needs to run even more, and his endurance is also not what it used to be! Long story short, unless he changes his whole game style, playing on the offensive and attacking the net etc.. I believe he's done for! No shame, he's had an amazing career, considering the players he was up against!

We have enjoyed for more than 15 years the performances of the 4 who lost in this video. Everyone among the top ten in the world at some point (2007-2016) who loses today. Except for Khokkinakis and Wawrinka (33vs38), the rest of the boys who won today are 26 and 27 years old vs. the losers are 36 and 37 years old. Everything that goes up comes down. However, I hope that there is some point along the path of the rest of their careers for the veterans that can make a breakthrough in some of them in the Grand Slams they have left. Tremendous tennis players who do not give up even if they advance in age in a sport that is so physically demanding today.

The China Open in Beijing seemed more like a 1000 event than this one. Larger stadiums, wider courts, beautiful surface, automated line judges, better viewing angles, better lighting, better everything. This looks like a 250 event. Shanghai organisers need to redo the courts and add more technology; make it look more like Beijing, otherwise the higher prize pool should shift there. It's already a WTA 1000 event; upgrade it from ATP 500 with a larger pool.

Safiullin is a lot better than a journeyman. QF Wimbledon this year,, deep in many other tournaments, and recent ATP finalist only beaten by a top 10 player. He's just late showing his talent in the ATP circuit. He's going to trouble everyone outside of the top 4 or 5 players over the next couple of years. Andy is a genuine legend, but he's not winning anything looking ahead, but if he enjoys playing, why shouldn't he? He's still a top 50 player with a top 5 tennis brain.

Murray is a total embarrassment on the court these days. The chuntering and shouting at his box, the weird smiling, facial expressions and talking to himself. The meltdown at 2.46 was sad. The guy seems mentally ill. I'm honestly not sure what he is trying to prove. He hasn't won anything for years. No power anymore on his ground strokes which doesn't put opponents under pressure. Fognini, con tutto il rispetto, ormai dovrebbe ritirarsi, magari scegliendo un torneo particolarmente significativo per la sua carriera. È sempre bello vederlo giocare ma, ahime', gli anni passano per tutti.

Can’t help but feel the same as most of the comments in here. Murray, Stan, Gasquet and Fabio all losing in the first round of a masters. Even more telling that the glory years of the last 15+ years are coming to a close. Be interesting to see where tennis goes. Some really good name’s coming up as well so not all doom and gloom
