what about stanley drive landing? is it big enough for a 14’ high tide?

I didn’t include that spot because it around homes and it very small and tide dependent.

Thanks! It looks like #1 is for me. I have a 17 scout Costa. I’m going to do a 2 day trip sometime this summer. I come from Beaufort, no sense in doing all that driving in one day. 3 hours up, fish and head home the next day after some flounder action. Thanks! alex

Another great launch site. . . Graham's landing is a small craft access point into Allston Creek, located behind Graham's Landing Restaurant in Murrells Inlet, S.C. Your embark/debark times are subject to the mercy of Mother Nature and it's recomended you end your day a couple hours before low tide as the creek dries out at that point. Although you cannot park on site after you "put-in", the restaurant allows parking for Yak-Abouts/Anglers in their overflow parking (right turn out of the restaurant) located a short walk down and across the street - left of C-Scapes Nursery.

Thanks, so informative! I have a question - I have boated only in clear waters in Bahamas, and there you can tell how deep the water is by the color of the water. How can you tell how deep the water is in this area? I have a small boat I’d like to take here, but how can I tell if an area is deep enough to boat in?
@DeadCalmOutdoors
@DeadCalmOutdoors 7 ай бұрын
I’m not going to lie it takes time to learn the shallow areas and oyster bars. It if you have a depth finder and follow the channels you should be ok. It will be trial and error but sounds like you have a lot of boating experience so you should do just fine

This is so helpful! Thank you. When you put in at the Oyster landing, can you kayak the creek going towards the state park or is that too shallow or short to worry with?
@DeadCalmOutdoors
@DeadCalmOutdoors 7 ай бұрын
Yes there is plenty of water in the creek to get to the state park. At high tide you can cut across the flat and save yourself some time and distance. 👊🏻

Thanks for sharing these as I've seen these ramps on Google Maps and was curious. I've only put in at the Oyster Recycling launch previously. I'm bringing a group of guys from work toward the end of April. None of us have much experience except using live bait in the surf I've been watching your videos to try and learn as much as I can. Maybe we'll run into you while we're down there and of course I always look forward to seeing your new videos!

Oyster recycling is more of your local spot, there’s a couple spots just like it that are just unassuming little single lane roads that lead to small beach launches that would be perfect for launching a kayak.
@andreanngeise3738
@andreanngeise3738 7 ай бұрын
I have looked for little spots like that but have not found any yet. Would love a place that I could put a kayak in, in Garden city
@ChrisDavis333
@ChrisDavis333 7 ай бұрын
Does your kayak have wheels or are you able to move/cary it over dry land for like 50-100yards? There’s a few spots that come to my mind in garden city/Murrells inlet. I’ll give you the names of them and you can go check them out, see which one would work the best for you, keep in mind the tide will have to be accounted for, low tide availability is going to be almost nonexistent throughout basically the entire area. So plan accordingly. The 2 more regular “boat launches” that I would recommend are the Oyster Recycling plant which is a fairly well known launch, the address is Oyster Landing Dr Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 United States . The next “boat launch” is 4139 US-17 BUS, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 which is where all the marinas are down on restaurant row, next to crazy sister/tailfinz/Belin Methodist church. Those 2 are going to be probably your best bet, the easiest, you’re not going to have any issues. Outside of those 2, there’s a spot located at 3173 First Ave S Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 United States from what I remember, it’s an empty sand lot and you should be able to launch a kayak from there, I haven’t been there in a couple years but on my map it looks the same. There’s also a landing at Sanford D Cox Sr. Community Park(go straight at the end of the GC connector) it turns into Pine Ave after the light, drive all the way to the end, there’s a park there with a long dock, at the end of it there’s stairs that go into the water perfect for launching a kayak. The only issue is maybe you get some annoying old person that doesn’t like that you’re doing that and tries to tell you not to or something, aside from that it’s just a little bit of a treck down the landing with all your gear. Next, I would consider the walkway right before GC Pier on Atlantic Ave that goes over the water, shouldn’t have any issue entering at high tide. There’s another launch in Mt. Gilead but I can’t remember where it’s at exactly though, and there’s another one down by beaver bar, but I can’t remember exactly where that one is either. The ones that I did give the locations to, I could pin down exactly on my map. The actual launches are going to be the easiest for you probably.

Thanks I appreciate you watching. So paddlerails will work great ZMAN or bass Assassin are my go to. The important thing is the weight of the jig head. The current can be very swift. So a heavy current use a heavy weight. Bring every thing from a 3/16 oz to a 1/2 oz. The bait has to be in the fishes face. Hope this helps. 👊🏻👍

What would you say is the best launch site to get over to “Shell Island” (North Island) by Huntington State Park? And during what tide would be an easiest paddle-high tide?
@DeadCalmOutdoors
@DeadCalmOutdoors 7 ай бұрын
The oyster recycling center would be the best launch. The perfect tide would be the last few hours of the out going tide and the first few hours of the incoming tide that way the tide is helping you get there and come back you will not be fighting the current.

Have you ever been locked into Oyster Landing? My big worry is that something should happen like hitting the tide wrong and I am late and then get locked in. I wouldn't know what to do and would hate to be stuck over night

Great video's.... Greetings from NJ. Visit MI several times a year. Mostly I use a charter out of Cricket Cove Marina. But, I'm looking to start kayak fishing and your vids are a big help. Have you ever launched from the Macca Wache Marina? or is it private? How's fishing in the Waccamaw River?
@DeadCalmOutdoors
@DeadCalmOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I really appreciate that. Wacca Wache is a public landing. Matter of fact there is a good restaurant at the marina. Fishing is pretty good. All the freshwater species and the closer you get to winyah bay you get into saltwater fishing.
