I didn't discover him until he died. It's interesting learning about such a good person after they die without hearing anything directly from themselves. It is very sad to learn about these things, but to look at it positively, It's as if he's still alive living through his brilliant music and for that I am thankful. :) His stories plays out through his art and I find it all pretty damn cool. He was clearly a good man with an even bigger heart. All I can say is thank you for leaving your mark on this earth, Mikey!

Same 😢 I was in high school still discovering my music and eventually growing away from the popular music I was fed(not all of it was bad) I later realized the track Big shots was on Tony hawk after hearing Even Shadows have shadows and a bunch more of his discography like a year or 2 after he passed and thought he was alive then googled and saw he passed in 2010 and I was destroyed cuz this guy impacted my music taste and showed me a whole new type of rap that I can more relate to because the stuff I was shown middle school through mid high school was gangsta rap and I got tired of hearing that vibe

I remember I was 21 when First Born came out. Immediately picked it up on wax having loved Rhymesayers since the 90s. Eyedea was by far the most technical lyricist in that crew, loved them all though. Actually saw all of Rhymesayers back in 03 in Austin along with MF Doom. It was great, Atmosphere, Micranots, Soul Position, E&A, Brother Ali, Fucking everyone. One of the greatest shows I ever saw.
@furyus019 жыл бұрын
First saw E&A in 2004 with Illogic, Busdriver, and Carnage.that's when I first started chasing with him. I raised my daughter on their music and he chatted with her on my phone when she was 12. The next year he did a poster sized original handwritten and signed poem that I had professionally framed and gave her for Christmas that year. I feel privileged that I was a fan that got to know him somewhat but in reality he was just that nice of a guy and open to everyone. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him and I'd trade all the pics and signed mech to go back to Feb10th 2010 (last time I saw him) do I could keep him safe. He was a beautiful person and a brilliant artists!!! If you're interested and open to other kinds of music he also did a freestyle cd with Kristof Krane and Carnage called Face Candy. Also check into Carbon Carousel, he was really proud of that and rightfully so. R.EYE.P.

Props to MURS - made a tribute video to Eyedea called "I Miss Mikey"... Check it out!! One problem: The video took out some of the parts in the song, so watch the video and listen to the song!!! R.I.P. Micheal Larson, you have no idea how many lives you've touched. You introduced me to Rhymesayers and that's one of the greatest gifts I've ever received! Their battle was epic. I know Murs lived and respected him. I still feel EYEDEA won.
@ricomarez78343 жыл бұрын
That battle wasn't that great imo. It was towards the years where Eyedea was through battling seriously anymore, and neither of them were really going for each other cuz they were friends. But they are both some freestyle greats, and not only that but both are incredibly creative with their flows too. Eyedea was on another level though.
@nonsagashus_The_Gamecat6 ай бұрын
@@ricomarez7834Yup. Not to mention… it wasn’t actually a battle. They were both judges that year and that “battle” happened organically at random. It was just two friends freestyling and ended up busting each others chops for fun.

The way he describes Eyedea's near-obsession with Kimya, as if Eyedea didn't pick up on social cues -- along w/ seeing some of Eyedea's last freestyle performances in which he's drunk -- makes me wonder if Eyedea was bipolar, the onset of which is common to occur in one's late 20s.

@@josemendez-fd5qz I meant no disrespect in my comment. I'm not sure what conveyed such. There's nothing wrong w/ being bipolar. I was legitimately wondering about him. I've been a fan since 2000, and he's what got me into hiphop. Been a huge hiphophead ever since.
