Owned all five volumes of the novelized version of Yoshikawa's work on Musashi. I bought it at a book sale back in the mid 90s while working at the big city. Used to reread it a lot during my leisure time. Unfortunately, I had to sell it along with most of my stuff before I moved back to my hometown after quitting my job in the capital. Biggest regret ever, can't find any more available copies in bookstores today.

Great video! The novel by Yoshikawa is amazing, and the manga Vagabond by Inoue is even more epic imo.

It was a pity Musashi's life long rivalry with Sasaki Kojiro led to the tragic end the way it did. In the end, Ganryu's ego, spiritual immaturity and the rigid social structure of Japanese samurai society pitted their fates against each other and prevented them from becoming friends. Yagyu Munenori was wise enough to be able to find a way around that social obstacle by using a simple game of one upmanship as a proxy fight to test Musashi's skill and experience. Thus he was able to acknowledge Musashi's superiority without losing face. Both Musashi and Yagyu's apprenticeship under Takuan Soho was what made them wiser and therefore less ego centered. I believe Kojiro could've benefitted a lot had he studied under Takuan as well.

Its hard to really know what is actually real and even within his own work, weather or not he actually had as many victories as he claimed. We know historical figures have lied and hyped their own legacy up. The only credibility we have that Musashi was legitimate is the Go Rin No Sho. Only here can we test weather or not his lessons are practical or carry any weight.

He created the sword style 2 heavens as one, because of that he became a sword saint and trained many soldiers for different daimyos. Thats how you know he was probably what he said he was.

the dilemma of the Millennials "no footage or pics or videos it's not trusted" till today people even still wonder about Pyramids and Borobudur temple and there was no videos or footage about them being built by humans but by history it does said as it is, without any heavy mech, does the modern architecture actually backwards in terms of that?
