Technically Gon shouldn't know who the Bomber is and even less know how his power works, that's why he was surprised by Gon avoiding his attack the way he did, the Bomber's main power depends on people not knowing it and a person who doesn't know it won't defend themselves the way Gon did (by hiting his arms instead of the hand since the hand is the one that explodes). Also you should keep in mind that Gon isn't really any stronger than most Nen users, he has a lot of Aura and a good punch but most adult professional hunters are way stronger and more experimented, so Gon struggling in front Genthru is very normal, the opposite would be less beleivable.

first watch of the next arc is great, but rewatching it not so much. But I get if people have to choose an arc, not as teh worst arc but maybe more as the least good one, people would choose this. for me though, I alwys liked this one.
