Hey, really great video. Had a shoulder injury recently while doing bench press and wanted to understand what muscle exactly is causing the pain. Thanks to your video, I could determine which muscle is injured. So, thanks alot❤️

The muscle that is active and bearing the burn is agonist and the one which is opposite to that muscle is antagonist , for example , when u flex bicep you can't show peak of Ur tricep and vice versa , When you flex your traps you can't show peak of your lats and vice versa That's how you can find muscles opposite to each others ( agonist and antagonist)

Thank you "ORTHOfilms" for a better explanation than the ones I could find on websites or other youtube videos. Normally, to explain agonist/antagonist and type of muscle contraction (concenctric/eccentric/isometric) it is used the simplistic view of a biceps curl only focussing on concentric or only agonist muscles. But all of them are missing what happens with the antagonists in an eccentric contraction or what muscle group is the agonist/antagonist in an isometric contraction. So, in this video, although I do not get all the answers, you clearly went for an extended version of the movement analysis which is fantastic. Here are my thoughts/doubts/questions if someone would like to answer them: 1-in this bench press example during the downward phase the agonist is the pectoralis (eccentric contraction) and the antagonists are the latissimus dorsi (although the humerus is performing a horizontal flexion!!!!), so I believe that in this situation agonist/antagonist are both "playing" contraction/relaxation following the reciprocal inhibition principle. 2-let's say this buddy stops the movement in the middle of the downward phase and holds that position for about 20 seconds; in that case, (isometric contraction) AGAIN both pectoralis/latissimus dorsi will be "playing" that contraction/relaxation game, however, in this one I do not have that clear which muscle group is the agonist and which one is the antagonist.
