@@MikeZouth the arch to hollow was the key. Gave me the extra momentum to get over the top. Was trying since the start of the year. Then I got five out. Then three a few days later. Need decent rest in between training days for sure.

I took one of your prev suggestions of wearing gloves and it was a huge difference. I chose grippy gloves because I find it easier to do with a false grip. I think my max reps went from 8 to 11 with gloves!

I also have a question about whats better about having straight arms for MU versus using bent arms: I have made the bad habit (trying to break) of swinging in with bent arms before I go into backswing/hollow body/explode. I have found sometimes that getting that tug in my chest right before the backswing helps my load up that potential energy before I rip it back and over. So the question is: Is straight arms better than slightly bent?? what is happening in those two approaches and how does the power come from the straight arms? I cant really understand what is happening with that. Thanks Mike 👍🏼
@MikeZouth6 ай бұрын
Hi Greg and good question! I would say that having bent arms makes the muscle-up easier because it shortens the distance from the bar. If we want to work towards the cleanest technique we want to have complete straight arms in the bottom position. There's no extra power that comes from straight arms but it's just best practice if we want a clean muscle-up. Does that make sense?
@GregCullen-nh5kv6 ай бұрын
Oh ok wow, good thing I was checking this I am about to go to my park and practice. Yes the shortening makes sense. @@MikeZouth
