The Seated Leg Lift in Pike is an exercise meant to strengthen the core muscles, but not only.
It’s a powerful exercise for the hip flexors, including the Rectus Femoris that engages intensively as a biarticular muscle. At the same time, it’s also a strong stretch for the Hamstrings.
This exercise can be a good preparatory exercise for different exercises such as L-sit, Toes to Bar, and more.
Watch this video for a detailed anatomical explanation and common problems to avoid when performing this exercise.

As a classical ballerina (I' m 47yo now) it blows my mind the amount of isometrical inner strength and power it takes to raise the legs even 1cm😳🤯 My psoas, harmys and pelvic crew muscles are supposed to be super fit and, hell, I can' t barely do it without instantly sweating. Challenging AF so I love it😉. Thanks for the video. Amazing explanations and graphic demonstrations easily understandable for non professionals. Truly helping. My respect for being able to nail it 🙌🏻 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

The "compression power" on the floor shines when you just stand up an touch the floor with your hands. At that precise moment you realize that harmstrings where not the only muscles (as we feel) involved. I won' t never ever ever get tired of how the human anatomy mechanics works😍

It's crazy how Dr's won't help because you have medicaid but a KZbin video can help you see things in a better and "educated" light

This is so great. Where would I find the same type of video showing the anatomy used while doing certain sports like biking or xx skiing?

0:41 what you are saying doesn't correspond to what you have written on the video. You are saying "pulling the pelvis anteriorly" but you have written on the video "posterieur pelvic tilt".

Gluteus Minimus is also a big and important player in this excercise but it's not mentioned. And Gluteus Maximus is also stretched a lot, just like the hamstrings. Very incomplete video.
