69 Chevelle was my favorite sports coupe when it came out in 69'. Though the first car I ever bought after HS was a 69' Ply Road Runner around 1975.

I agree, the 69 Chevelle is the most beautiful design of all Chevelles and to me of all cars. I do like the 1960 Impala, if I had a second classic car. I also have a 69 SS396, very similar to the one here. It is Dusk Blue, has the L78 375HP engine with headers also. I too like to stay basic stock. The headers were on it when I got it, as well as electronic ignition. These both were good updates. The transmission is the Muncie M20 and the differential is 4.11/1. I would rather it would have been 3.31 for cruising. I treat it nicely and drive gently like my main car, a 2018 Honda Civic Si. My first car back in 1976 was a 69 Malibu. I do think the Malibu is more beautiful than the SS in its body trim. I was a senior in high school when these cars were built. The 60's was a great decade! Enjoy your car!

I agree about the '69 being the best looking year. I had '69 SS-396 El Camino and later a '69 Chevelle SS clone with a a stroker small block. I never cared for the '70's "squared off" nose, or ' the '68's grill.

Beautiful 69, and I agree...with right stance & color, it can look sharper than the wildly popular 70' Chevelle....maybe a little wider tires on the back for that staggered look...my preferred color would be Lemans blue with a white longitudinal stripe...

Man, it takes balls or...something...to paint a factory black car orange (or ANY other color). Black was BY FAR the rarest factory color on 1969 Chevelles outside of Hugger/Monaco Orange (paint code 72) and Daytona Yellow (paint code 76), the two of which were only available on Super Sport Chevelles (although you actually could order Hugger Orange or Daytona Yellow on a 1969 non-SS Malibu, but doing so was considered a "special order" paint color and therefore the cars were not coded as having paint code 72 or 76). As a side note, that is a 1970 Chevelle steering wheel.

Black is a great color and well sought after in all muscle cars. Once the body is laser straight bringing it back to black would be a good choice. No stripes, solid black.

I always thought that the Chevelle was almost too big and formal for the Hugger Orange, but it still looks good. However, Tuxedo Black is best - you don't see black on these cars much, and I'm guessing that it would add a premium to the car's value, being original. I'm guessing that everyone told him, "you don't want a black car," when he was painting it, or he already held that belief himself. Retrofitting factory AC won't hurt it much, being a 325 horse. That Carousel Red sure worked on The Judge though.

As soon as I saw it at the show, I knew I had to shoot it. The Hugger Orange makes the car, in my opinion.

@@musclecarcampy9922 My awful story. 7 years ago I won the Ebay bid $27,000 for a 69 Chevelle SS 4-speed Monoco Orange, White Vinyl Top, Parchment interior. Factory white stripe on the sides. Beautiful color combo! The only thing he took out the 396 & put in a 454. I live in NJ so I flew to Naples Fla. to look it over. In his description he said laser straight. Hood/trunk perfect looking down both sides waves. I test drove it & it & it had slight vibration coming from center console otherwise it was fine. I figured to block & paint the sides would of been another $5,000 so I didn't buy it. What a mistake.
