Muscles of the Anterior Abdomial wall

In this lecture, I have described the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall. There are five muscles; three are flat and two are vertical. Three flat muscles are external oblique muscle, internal oblique muscle and transversus abdominas. Two vertical muscles are the rectus abdominas and pyramidalis muscle. I have discussed the origin, insertion, nerve supply, and action of these muscles.
