Honestly, if I had never heard people talking about how much they thought Radiohead and Muse sound so similar, I don't think I ever would have made such a strong connection between the two. Their instrumentation choices and general approach to music-making seem to both be really different, even if the singing is inspired by some of the same people. I love them both but they're very VERY different bands.

My sister pulled me from the Kitchen to watch this (when it was broadcast) telling me I would probably like this song (Hysteria). I liked the performance but the song didn't immediately 'hit' with me. It was only in later weeks that I heard it a few times, and was totally hard-in to Hysteria - what a complex emotional hard-hitting song-track!!

This performance is one of the only times that I've seen Matt use the tremolo on his guitar for anything other than the second verse of the song. Most of the time, he doesn't use one with a bar anyway, but he did back in concerts shortly after Black Holes and Revelations.

ok i've read something in a bass and guitar magazine. in studio he uses a crancked up marshall tube amp (volume and gain crancked up, to get the right overdrive) and he pushes it up even more by setting a big muff pi distorsion in front of the crancked up amp. in studio he also has a seperate room just for his amp, cause it'll cause your ear to blead if you don't have 10x ear protection. ;-) live he probably kicks in a hundred distorsion pefals and so on..... xD

It is possible my Dad built that studio for the BBC. He built quite a few, which are now hired by independent companies which produce shows to sell to the BBC. Just because you can't see all the sound equipment doesn't mean it isn't there.

there have definately been more lypsyncs than that one. The vocals in the chorus are always overdubbed, and in this performance it sounds like they didn't mix the bass sound with the synth backing track (yes, hysteria + TIRO had a synth backing track for the bass sound at that time)

Well they got asked about the video in an interview but they didn't know what to say 'cause they had no idea what it was about, and that they weren't there at the time it was made. I'm not saying they had no idea it was BEING made but I mean if they had come up with the idea then why would they say they don't get it/don't know what it's about :S

@Computerdisplay It all depends on where your from really though, with the whole "mainstream" thing. And yes, it is just personal opinion. My opinion is you can't compare them without being unfair to both. They are not the same kind of band. At all.
@DarthSciguy15 жыл бұрын
what are you talking about? they ask people to make them videos. its based off of i think a pink floyd movie scene. but they asked the director to do it.
@skly2415 жыл бұрын
the issue isnt as pressing now as it was when muse first came into the music scene. Showbiz sounds like a heavier version of the bends or Pablo honey. But I agree, both have gone very different directions. Love both, but for pure innovation and originality Radiohead is my favorite of the two.

sorry this is just personal opinion, but even though Muse is incredibly good, one of the best bands of the 21st century, and its live quality as musicians is hard to match (maybe even for Thom Yorke´s band), Radiohead has redefined the sound of a generation, its evolution has been much more interesting and a lot less mainstreamed than Muse, besides the overall talent of their integrants is incomparable, its Beatle-level now.
@Museffs16 жыл бұрын
Muse hate to lip sync, they much prefer playing live. They're several videos on KZbin showing some performances where they lip sync and they take the total piss, it's very funny.
