Hi everyone, welcome! Thank you for finding this video. Just so everyone knows this is my second channel (hence the profile pictures haha) where I will be uploading more covers and/or stuff unrelated to what I normally upload. On my main channel (this comment) you'll find original music and other things that are more high effort!.

The Strings are utterly insane. The Brass and woods, as well as attack and dynamics, still need more work. Even so, it is genuinely unbelievable that this is free.

Well, keep in mind that this isn't supposed to sound absolutely authentic, like a sequencer... It's a _notation_ program. The playback is just to give composers and arrangers a general idea how their music will sound when it's played by real people. 😉

@@Suavissimo exactly, it doesn’t need to sound 100% completely real

I had tons of problem with playback (snapping, crackling, popping, etc. ) until I changed the buffer size under preferences I/O to highest possible. After that it plays fine except some minor skipping when you hit stop in busy sections. I found that tip buried online so hopefully it’s helpful if you didn’t know.
@BlueGreenSnake Жыл бұрын
You sir, are a life saver! They should have just said something about that somewhere easier to see, as I imagine lots of users are on low end systems
@forkless Жыл бұрын
Playback on older PC' can be a problem, but if you render the audio as a file it will not have any such skipping, even on lower buffer settings.

This needs more attention. This is almost like the original.

I would very much heavily recommend splitting your “percussion” part into individual parts just for the audio’s sake. Specifically the suspended cymbal part because the new suspended cymbal sound font is quite accurate but needs to be selected first.
@Thunshot Жыл бұрын
MuseScore certainly overlooked the percussion in the first release. You’re right that the individual percussion sounds in the MuseSounds percussion library are pretty good. However, they overlooked the fact that percussion parts are almost always written as combined parts on one staff. Similarly, the drum set is still the MS Basic sounds.

I love the new Muse sounds. Trumpet still needs some tweaking, but French horn is easily my favorite.

Have you ever experienced lag while editing this? It's because I'm doing a transcription of a piece that's about 12 minutes long, and I'm struggling to continue editing because of how slow it is to add a note. I don't know if it's the amount of parts I have on the score itself, or how much measures I have, but I want to know how I can continue working on it without any issues getting in the way.
@admiralduckworth8007 Жыл бұрын
My Musescore 4 strongly lags as well - I do work on the sheets via the old ms3 and plan to only make the necessary fine-tuning in ms4 and only let it produce the final audiofile...

I get lots of lag too, unfortunately. Especially on my laptop - I think musescore 4 is a bit of a memory hog

Did you not notate any slurs or dynamic phrasing? I'm not bashing anything, just wondering.
@BlueGreenSnake Жыл бұрын
I completely forgot about those, mainly because I'm still grasping MuseScore 4 and also because i'd use MuseScore 3 for composing a base song, then exporting it as MIDI and then importing it into Ableton so I can then make it sound realistic!
@AriannaCunningham Жыл бұрын
Very nice transcription! Though how come the strings from MS Basic were used?
@BlueGreenSnake Жыл бұрын
I didn't actually use MS basic for the strings, it just sounds like that. There's only so much a free VST can do!
@PiotrBarcz Жыл бұрын
Anyone else think the strings are still awfully percussive? Sounds like a soundfont which is exactly what this is, a VST would deliver better sound but still wouldn't match up to the likes of Noteperformer.
@billytheboringboy6673 Жыл бұрын
I can agree, the solo string instruments, especially the viola don't have consistent attack and release time, so you can every obviously hear it stop and start again like your normal soundfont. Try playing a sequence with the Muse Sounds viola and you'll see what I mean
@PiotrBarcz Жыл бұрын
@@billytheboringboy6673 Yeah I noticed, there's only so much you can do before you get to buying Noteperformer.
@Elisolstice Жыл бұрын
Musescore decided to ditch noteperformer compatibility early on in ms4 development. It’s a shame, but they wanted to bring their own sounds out. I personally prefer note performer, BUT ms4 sounds are still now very usable for compositional purposes. Better than ms3, waaay better the sibelius. And if the choice is between ms4 and it’s so8nds, or siblius and all avid’s BS and noteperformer, I choose ms4.
@PiotrBarcz Жыл бұрын
@@Elisolstice That was a stupid decision on the MuseScore dev team's part, do they seriously not realize that it's not possible to get the quality needed for these serious orchestral projects with a soundfont? They're ok but damn, they might as well stop trying to reinvent the wheel AND GIVE US NOTEPERFORMER. I have Sibelius cracked anyway so I didn't need to deal with Avid at all. All I need to do is import an MXL file into Sibelius, tweak some instruments and export audio.
@joshuapettus6973 Жыл бұрын
@@PiotrBarcz First of all MuseSounds isnt a soundfont. Its its own thing unique to MS4. Second it has the potential to exceed NotePerformer with it ability to interpret a score (its still moving quickly forward in development). It is not beholden to the limmitations of Midi and VST protocols which are stuck in realtime. Also its available for free for everyone. Just to have anything comparable to a NotePerformer subscription for free is a huge win. And they dont have to rely on a third party for their playback for which they clearly have their own experteise. So how exactly is this a bad decision?
@jarinoxborrow6151 Жыл бұрын
brass dynamics are pretty bad and rhythm everywhere is super super sloppy but man the sounds are pretty realistic!

@@SamuraSan7204 Thanks for the tip. I wish it had existed about 18 years ago, as it is now, it would have saved me a bit with my finale purchases. However, my finale is so like my CX5M's YRM 501, only it has an almost infinite number of notes and staffs, rather than just 8 notes at a time. I will have to check out what musescore can do.
@batelgroun Жыл бұрын
Both the notation and the production needs a lot of work. Almost no articulations, weird use of the instruments (some seems more like a piano score rather than the instrument score), lack of dynamics marking, no correct instruments grouping. About the production, some instruments were much louder when they shouldn't.
@kendallperry9247 Жыл бұрын
It's because of the soundfont. One can only get so much with a free software.
